Encouraging Words of Truth:

During challenging times, we are provided an opportunity in how we respond. As Believers in Jesus Christ, we are called to love in all things. Jesus Christ loves us in all things - regardless of what we or the world does. While being crucified, 'Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”' (Luke 23:34) Sometimes it's easy to forget who we are in Christ. That we are Children of God (John 1:12) and Christ’s Friend (John 15:5), were bought with a price and belong to God (1 Corinthians 6:19,20), and are members of Christ’s body (1 Corinthians 12:27). At times like these, it's not time to panic -it's time to love and care for each other (especially for those less fortunate than ourselves). As always, we are called to Know the Truth for ourselves and not listen to the lies of satan and the world. Believers are called to live in the Truth, but we, like so many Saints in the Bible, can often be deceived by a lie...and, satan is doing his best to deceive, distort, and pervert the global news reporting, as per usual M.O. Remember, per 1 Peter 5:8, that our "adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." He's on the job 24/7/365 and he's loving the opportunity that he has with the corona virus.

For example, I heard today how South Korea didn't shut things down during their corona virus response (and that people there are still working); and, that was great to hear! But, the news reporter was comparing the United States' response to South Korea's. Now, that's like comparing an elephant to a mouse!? But, the story and comparison led me to seek some Truth for myself. As of March 24th at Noon US EST, the current stats on the virus were as follows:

  • US: 372M folks, 49K cases (0.01%), 588 deaths (1.2% of cases; 0.00002% of pop)
  • China: 1.4B folks, 400K cases (0.03%), 17K deaths (4% of cases; 0.0001% of pop)
  • Italy: 60M folks, 64K cases (0.1%), 6K deaths (9% of cases; 0.01% of pop)
  • S Korea: 52M folks, 9K cases (0.02%), 120 deaths (1.3% of cases; 0.0004% of pop)

It's easy to hear a story that is getting repeated and believe it. But, just like in our Faith lives, we are called "in all things" to seek the Truth for ourselves (John 8:32). And, the Truth is that God's got this and we sure don't. All will be okay; God's got us. So, the real question for us as Believers is, "what are we going to do about it?" We all need to do something and cannot sit idle in the face of a challenge. Perhaps it's keeping our Children safe and grounded in both God's Truth and the truth about the virus. Perhaps it's calling an old Friend, our Parents, and/or Grandparents. Perhaps it's taking someone a meal or offering-up our reserves of excess toilet paper to others in need (I mean, what did we ever do before toilet paper? Kidding). There are an Infinite number of "Perhaps-es" for us to consider - do whatever works for you, but please "do". This is our opportunity to show the world the Face of Jesus Christ by our "do's". St. James said in his Book in the Bible (2:18), "Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works."

So, let's get to work Brothers and Sisters! God bless and Godspeed!!!

If you've never had a relationship with Jesus Christ (or, if you've drifted a bit in your relationship with Him), please consider opening your heart up to Him and accepting Him as your King and Savior. By seeking Him, He will meet you and love you where you are; and, your life will never be the same.

A wonderful reminder of our real purpose in life. The two great commandments: love God and love our neighbor.
