In memory of our friend and colleague, Pam Lord

In memory of our friend and colleague, Pam Lord

Dear friends,

It is with a tremendously heavy heart, I share with you the passing of our long-term colleague and dearest friend, Pam Lord. Pam’s battle with pancreatic cancer peacefully ended on December 23rd at home with her husband, Adam.

Pam and I and others on the CanaleComm team have worked together for nearly two decades. We have so many memories together – yet, I find it so difficult to find the words to express the tremendous heartache we feel with Pam’s fast and far too early passing.

Pam was a model of health and happiness. In early September, Pam and Adam vacationed in Montana and ran the “Rut” run in the mountains. She shared with me she shaved seven minutes off of her last 11k run and finished first in her age group. A few weeks later she was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Today she is no longer with us.

Working in the biotech industry, we are inspired almost daily by the tremendous medical progress we have made but deadly diseases like pancreatic cancer still take our loved ones far too often. Pam was committed to the industry and to her work. She wanted to keep working absolutely as long as she could even with full appreciation of the statistics of her disease. How poignant that the last press release outreach she did was for a San Diego company launching to target pancreatic cancer.

Pam left her fingerprint on hundreds of biotech companies and probably thousands of individuals. She was one of the hardest working and most loyal people I will ever know. Our office already misses her mentorship, her kind heart, her thoughtfulness and perhaps most of all – her loud, uninhibited laughter that often echoed through the halls.

Pam was one of a kind and we will remember her always. She asked that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Clearity Foundation or the Emilio Nares Foundation. Her family is planning a celebration of life in the coming weeks.

This tragedy is such a strong reminder to tell your loved ones how important they are. You can never say it too much.

With love, Carin and the entire CanaleComm team

Yes - sadly we still lose too many wonderful people like Pam but we can all support the ongoing work at organizations like Clearity that keep moving us toward a time when this will be a thing of the past. We are sad for her Canale family.
