In Memory of Bill Henry

There are so many amazing leaders in our industry; but there is only ONE Bill Henry .

That is why his passing is so significant and so heartbreaking for our industry, for our community, and for so many people who call Bill our mentor, our advisor, our champion, and most importantly, our dear friend!

Bill is authentic.? Anyone who knows Bill will tell you that he walks the walk; he is genuine and he lives his life according to his values.

Bill is beloved.? ?In fact, Bill is the beloved patriarch not only in his family, in his company, but also in our business community.

Bill is charismatic.? He has a special way to make you feel comfortable around him with his down to earth friendliness and Southern gentleman manners.

Bill is dedicated.? At home, he is a dedicated husband to his wife, his children and grandchildren.? At work, he is a dedicated leader, mentor, advisor and colleague.

Bill is energetic.?? When you work with Bill, his enthusiasm and excitement is contagious and uplifting.

Bill is faithful.? He is someone you can count on no matter what and someone who is loyal to his friends and family.

Bill is generous.? His generosity is not only reflected in the years of giving through charities such as the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF), but also in his generous giving of his time and attention to people around him.

Bill is inspirational.? He never stops loving what he does and giving the best to everything he touches on.

Bill is joyful.?? Rarely do you see Bill without a genuine smile on his face.

Bill is kind.? Despite the fierce competition in the broker world, he always shows kindness to everyone that he comes across.

Bill is legendary. He is one of most admired and respected leaders in our industry and someone who is so loved by so many.

Bill is modest. You never hear Bill bragging about himself or his accomplishments, despite the amazing career he has.

Bill is nurturing as a leader.?? So many of us including myself consider him as a great mentor, a trusted advisor and a great champion who speak for us when we are not in the room.

Bill is open-minded.? When you have ideas, no matter how crazy it might sound, Bill has an ear for you and will hear you out.

Bill is people-oriented.?? He builds up people on his team and brings the best out of people around him.

Bill is quaint.? He is an old-fashioned Southern gentleman whose charm adds character and uniqueness to him as a leader and as an individual.?

Bill is a rainmaker.? He has the rare ability to make things happen, from the creation of Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) Southeast Division, to transforming MHBT into what it is today, to spearheading the establishment of the risk management and insurance program at Texas Tech: Bill never stops making things happen.

Bill is saint-like. His exceptional kindness and selflessness is what I will call a “saint-like” aura that he has.? He constantly seeks ways to help those in need.

Bill is trust-worthy.? When you ask him to help, you know you can count on him to deliver his promise.??

Bill is unstoppable.? When Bill has his mind on something, you know it is going to happen.

Bill is venturous.? He is willing to take risks or embark on difficult courses of action throughout his career.?

Bill is warm-hearted.? He is known for his genuine kindness and compassion towards others without expecting anything in return.

Bill is Xalted.? He held an?Xalted?position in the community, respected by both colleagues and competitors.

Bill is young.? He is young at heart and his high level of energy and passion is second to none.?

Bill is zestful.? So often, Bill is the most zestful person in the group, always leading others with his positivity, energy and passion.

PLU (people like us) is a phrase coined by Bill Henry , at least I first heard that phrase from him; yet, there is no one like Bill Henry .
