Memorize the 10 Commandments

Memorize the 10 Commandments

Learn the 10 Commandments with a Pencil List.

I had a dream last night and if you learn this dream you will know all 10 commandments in order and by number.

1. I dreamed God stuck me in the head with an extra long pencil and pulled me to heaven and said I am the one and only God. (First Commandment: You shall have no other gods before Me.)

2. I was put in purgatory and saw a sink singing on American Idol. (Second Commandment: You shall not make idols.)

3. After the sink there was a Circus with many Lords all leaping and attached at the hip by huge green vines. (Third Commandment: You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.)

4. On the outside of the Circus ran a track and on it was a man who was so sad he was crying in a bath tub because it had holes in it and the water was leaking out. It was a holy sad bath. (Fourth Commandment: Remember the Sabbath day, and keep it holy.)

5. Then I looked up and noticed millions of  stars and saw my father and mother together. (5th Commandment: Honor your father and mother)

6. Suddenly a bullet shot past my ear and I saw a big man with murderous intent on his face. (Sixth Commandment: You shall not murder.)

7. I noticed it wasn’t a bullet but a fancy pair of red casino-style dice. They lodged in a large oak next to a small sapling. I hid behind the adult tree not the baby tree. (Seventh Commandment: You shall not commit adultery.)

8. Once I determined it was safe I came out and saw a huge hourglass with a shiny, thick steel base. (Eighth Commandment: You shall not steal.)

9. Instead of sand there were baseballs. Suddenly a huge grizzly bear walks up and falls knocking over the hourglass and spilling all the baseballs on the bear. I laughed thinking the bear was witless. (Ninth Commandment: You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.)

10. The bear sees me laughing and charges, swiping at me with his huge clawed fingers. He misses. I notice a nearby Corvette and miraculously I have the keys in my fingers, I speed away in the Corvette. (Ninth Commandment: You shall not covet.)

Remember that story and you know the 10 commandments by number. I hope you see how reminders of each commandment are embedded into the story. But so is the number of each Commandment through the Pencil List, which I learned from US Memory Champion Ron White’s audio book, “Memory Improvement”. Check out his website: https://ronwhitetraining.com

The Pencil represents the number one. It is shaped like a one. And since the pencil is the first object we call it the Pencil List.

Sink is number 2. Two choices hot or cold and on or off.

Circus is 3. A three ringed circus.

Track is 4. Four Laps to a mile.

Star is 5. Five Points on a star.

Bullet is 6. A six shooter fires bullets and if you get hit  you are 6 feet under.

Dice are 7. Seven is the most common outcome to the roll of a pair of dice and if you add up opposite sides of any die they always add up to seven.

Hourglass is 8. An hourglass is shaped like an eight.

Baseball is 9. Nine players on a baseball team and nine innings in a game.

Fingers are 10. You have 10 fingers.

Yes, a "Catch -22". Relating 2 ideas the same. However different, being define in their own uniqueness. Therefore referencing one relative thought to the other... it will stimulate memorization.
