In Memorium - Dr Andrew P. Howard

Thank you to HISA for your thoughtful tribute to Andrew Howard, one of this country's favourite eHealth evangelists: https://campaign.r20.constantcontact.com/render?m=1101324388897&ca=78b43319-1a90-40db-927b-09496949c2b0

I had the true privilege of working with Andrew on the National Health Chief Information Officer Forum as well as the IT-039: Digital Hospital Handbook Committee, Standards Australia. Andrew was always a thoughtful contributor and a challenging, yet calming voice. Andrew had a wonderful ability to seek out and be respectful of other's views, yet wouldn't hesitate to call you out if you were behaving like a goose, particularly in the National Health CIO Fourm.

Whilst Andrew's contributions to eHealth in Australia have been many and notable, the one thing that I remember most about Andrew, the one thing that I admired most about Andrew was the way in which he dealt with his illness. Yes, he was stoic and a fighter on a personal front, but more than that, where many of us would have taken our foot off the pedal professionally, Andrew did the opposite - he managed to ratchet up his professional contributions.

Rest in Peace Andrew P. Howard, you are sadly missed.

Very sad to hear this news, Andrew was a wonderful man and he brought such energy and electricity to his role. I was lucky enough to work on the same floor as Andrew for a period in Health technology, he didn’t see hierarchies, he saw people and treated everyone with grace and respect - RIP
