NEW CONTRACTS
The CNRS - CNRS and the école nationale des?Chartes have chosen?MEMORIST?to take part in the sustainable conservation project of the holy city of Lalibela, in Ethiopia.
In May 2023, experts from ARKHENUM , a MEMORIST division, will operate in Ethiopia as part of?SustainableLalibela, a multidisciplinary project that aims to protect and enhance the historical and cultural value of the famous rock churches of the Ethiopian holy city. Validated in 2019 after a heritage cooperation agreement between France and Ethiopia, Sustainable Lalibela started in 2021. This vast operation aims at a more detailed knowledge of the site and its sustainable conservation, thanks to research, conservation, enhancement, and skills sharing projects. For a fortnight, Arkhênum will train a dozen priests and clerics on site in digitisation: recollection, handling, digitisation and creation of files for conservation and consultation. This training will then allow the local communities to process all the works themselves.
