Memories of Schlumberger

Memories of Schlumberger – picture taken in August 2017 when I was sent for job training in UAE and Oman just few months after I joined Schlumberger. Back then I was too naive to realize that working life is full of challenges, fluctuations, grit and perseverance. As a fresh graduate, I am just super eager to start my career at Schlumberger.

Time passes and I spent almost 3 years working at Schlumberger. Being a people focus organization, Schlumberger has provided a lot of platforms and opportunities for me to really grow not only my career but as an individual as well. These are some attributes that I picked up while working there and I think might be relatable especially to junior connections here ??

COMMIT – always go above and beyond your work routine. Set up daily, monthly and yearly goals of what you want to achieve in your career and stay committed to them. Align your work routine as well as additional assignments or projects you take so that they able to equip you with the skill sets and attributes to bring you closer to your goals.

STEP OUT – of your comfort zone and always learn something new either related or unrelated to your job. It is crucial for us to always update our knowledge with the latest corporate practices and be inquisitive. Try to learn the not-in-the-book lessons especially from the seniors. Challenge yourself to discover your upmost limit!

AGILE – Be agile and adaptive. In any organization, changes are inevitable, thus the only way for us not to fall back is to always progress and create value for our own individual self. Don’t be trapped in the myopic attitude of self-complacent and comfort.

Last but not least, enjoy your working life as all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy! You worked hard to get that degree to achieve your dream - well in my case to be an Accountant. Now that I am one, I am living my dream to the fullest. Take all the experiences either good or bad as part and parcel of growing. They said once your dream fulfilled it become someone else dream. I am now dreaming bigger dreams and working my hardest to achieve them.

In Schlumberger, one of my best memories is my colleagues. Memories with them are forever cherished in my heart ?
