Memories with right people are priceless

#newdaynewchapter is a Blog narrative started on March 1, 2021 co-founded by Kishore Shintre & Sonia Bedi, to write a new chapter everyday for making "Life" and not just making a "living"
Let me tell you a story I heard from my mother in my childhood. Once there was a boy who was being taken to jail. He looked very gloomy and sad and was sentenced to a 10 year Imprisonment. I saw the boy being taken to the prison and felt pity for him. I went to the police station and then realized that the boy had committed a murder. I requested the police to let me meet that child and the police agreed. I went to him and patted on his back and asked what made him so desperate to commit the crime.
He said to me with a soft smile “ My parents and neighbours told me I was good for nothing. I had the desire to study but my father withdrew me from school because of my bad grades, no one even my mom beat me everyday for being useless. When there was no one for me, there came a kind man named Mithun, who loved and nurtured me, provided me a home to live in and all the facilities that I could ask for. Everything was going good until one day….” I was curiously listening to his story when suddenly I felt something behind me something…something sharp…..poking my back, it was a knife how does it feel? He asked, I was surprised by this move. Don't worry I won't kill you, I just thought of scaring you to death.
I was talking to one of my relative. He had lost his father all of a sudden in the sleep. It was the most unexpected and their family was in shock for almost an year. We were having a casual talk about life and it's difficulties. “Life has become so routine. Getting up in the morning, running to work, coming back and again repeating the process….” “Life is hard…” “Some change is needed. We are bored …..” “ Please pray for routine life, don't expect any change. We are experiencing how life is with a change… His absence shook us from roots” His eyes were wet and voice was as as if he something stopped his speech. What are priceless aspects of life which we ignore???
Routine life where everything is going on smoothly. (One small change may alter the life forever) What do you need the most in life? I asked a watchman; he said sleep. I asked an orphan; she said, love. I asked a dying person; he said, some days. I asked a successful yet stressed professional, she said, peace of mind. I asked a girl who lost her eyes; she said even a faded vision would do. I asked an unemployed person, having no money for food; he said, any livelihood. I asked a depressed person; he said, smile. I asked someone grieving on a loved one’s death; she said, a few moments of the past. I asked a person suffering from chronic headaches; he said ordinary existence, free of pain. I asked an elderly woman living alone; she said, care. I asked a politician; he said, time. I asked a dead body; it said nothing.
Answering this question- Sleep, love, care, time, laugh, memories of precious moments, days, past, ordinary existence, these are some simple things; almost all of us already possess most of them. Do we even think about them? Do we really value them? Every Ordinary possession is useless unless you are deprived of it, after which it appears priceless. Ignoring parents and that ignorance comes from a device called Mobile phones which have got so smarter that we ignore our parents. Sitting just next to them, but not talking to them, not asking how their day went, how their health is.
Taking selfies in family functions instead of enjoying it and not having a conversation with our family members. And the same thing goes with the group of friends, they will be on phones rather than recalling those childhood memories. Today's Young kids - Playing games in smart phones at home. And not playing outdoor games like hide and seek, ice and water, pakda pakdi, chain chain etc . I bet most of today's kid might not know about these games. People forget to live in the moment, either they are just worried about their past or their future.. But they don't know what they have now, i.e. time, which is priceless. And that their present can surely make a big difference in future if their present will be better then their future will be too.
Eating pani puri in a mall instead of eating at streets with some extra chilly. It's a total bliss. Reading books on your mobiles instead of buying those from markets and then reading them in your personal space with some chips. Waking up whole night and sleeping in the morning instead of sleeping at right time at the night and waking up early and feeling the fresh air of the morning. Making video clips instead of watching ted talks. Writing long paragraphs on nature even clicking the pictures, but not watering the plants at your homes. Cheers!
