Memories of film and a dark room
Catherine Coombs
I create scroll-stopping images for small businesses to increase traffic, engagement and sales on their social media platforms and websites.
Not many people know that I trained in dark room back in the day when film was popular and digital photography had not yet been invented.
I remember manually processing films and prints in developer, stop and fixing baths.
I loved the process and creativity behind creating images.
Dodging and burning meant choosing where the light from your enlarger fell on your paper during an exposure.
One of my favorite items from this time was my very first SLR - my trusty old Pentax K1000.
I found it in the back of my cupboard earlier this week and reminded me of all my old photography adventures - it seems like a lifetime ago.
She was a bit dusty and mouldy but I brushed her off and quickly grabbed a few frames.
Who remembers the days of film? and What was your first camera?

7 年Catherine Coombs what a top find. I used to get those disposable Kodak travel cameras when I was a kid. How funny they are now - winding it up and taking a single shot - max 30 or something from memory. Then the big guns after uni, an EOS 400D which I dragged all over the place!
