Dear all
Lester and I learned of some very sad news last week of the passing of Brian Lawrence-Waterhouse. I’m sure a great many of you reading this will have known Brian in some capacity and will share in our grief and heartfelt condolences to his son Colin Lawrence-Waterhouse , and the wider family.
?
I had known Brian the whole of my career. He gave me my first professional job at Thorburn Colquhoun, and I was fortunate enough to work with him and learn during my time as a Graduate, and then junior Resident Engineer with him at URS, onto Cameron Taylor, and eventually he returned to work with us at CCS. Brian was my first Engineering mentor, but was also so much more. A friend, a grandfather figure, and for so many of the graduates he mentored throughout the years, he was a font of knowledge. He was the epitome of an Engineer, and simply loved his craft.
?
I will remember Brian for his humour, his stories (no matter how many times you’d heard them), his selfless attitude to helping others, and for his undoubted talent and love for Engineering. I am, as so many others are, extremely saddened by his passing, but also so thankful to have had him in our lives. He will never be forgotten.
?
Brian helped a number of our young graduates also at CCS. He was always willing to listen, advise, and guide, as he always did. As a company, we would like to honour this tradition, by renaming our Undergraduate training scheme for the brightest students, as “The Brian Lawrence-Waterhouse scholarship”. He’d no doubt disagree with the name, but I’m sure he’d be happy with the sentiment..

Sleep well my friend x ?
