Memorial Day Weekend

On the last Monday in May we brush off our white clothing and celebrate the start of summer on Memorial Day. Although most associate the holiday as the start of summer, the real meaning is much more solemn.

Decoration Day, as it was once called, was first observed on May 30th, 1868, to mourn the loss of life in the Civil War. It was called Decoration Day because the graves of the fallen solders were decorated with flowers, wreaths and flags. The day remembering the fallen has been observed ever since.

Since the founding of our country, 1.3M men and women have died defending this great country. Almost every family has been touched by the loss of life of those serving this country. We would like to wish all of you a wonderful holiday?weekend and give thanks to all who have served this country and especially those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Please take time to thank those who have served and think of those who never came home.
