Memorial Day - True Freedom
Today, we honor those who have went before us to give us the freedoms we enjoy. So many times, we take for granted our freedoms because of where we live. Sadly, we only take a moment to step back to recognize the men and women who sacrificed their lives for us whenever there is a holiday, or when some special event presents itself… Whereas, we should be giving thanks to them each day.
I hope you know that Freedom is not really free. When our country’s flag is flying high, it is not from the wind, it is because someone has died in your place.
Do you know who died for you?
Jesus Christ died for you and I to set us FREE. It is not the freedoms most of society talks about, NO! HE died for our spiritual and eternal freedom.
John 8:36, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
Galatians 5:1, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm and do not let yourselves be burdened again by the yoke of slavery.”
Christ came to set you free from your sins…not to be free to do whatever you want, when you want. If that was so, then you would freefall back into being slaves to your selfish sins. HE set you free so that you can live a life of unselfishness and have eternal life from HIS grace…which, by the way, is also FREE.
Without Christ’s death for us and HIS resurrection on our behalf, all the other social freedoms we relish are meaningless. Be sure to thank Christ each day for giving you True Freedom.
