I recently had the incredible opportunity to embark on a journey to Denmark, and it turned out to be an experience that exceeded all expectations. Not only did I get to immerse myself in this Scandinavian gem's vibrant culture and breathtaking landscapes, but I also had the privilege to speak at the Danish Esri User Conference, organized by Geoinfo (also known as Esri Denmark). Let me take you through some of the highlights of this remarkable trip.
Our adventure began in Copenhagen, the charming capital city of Denmark. On our first night, we checked into a cozy hotel and prepared for the days ahead. The following morning, we embarked on a train journey through the picturesque Danish countryside en route to Odense, the birthplace of the famous author Hans Christian Andersen. It was a scenic ride that allowed us to soak in the natural beauty and tranquility of the Danish landscape.
In Odense, we had the privilege of staying right next door to the residence of Hans Christian Andersen himself. The aura of creativity and storytelling was palpable, and it served as a constant source of inspiration throughout our stay – not to mention every hotel room was named after some part of his children’s stories. The Danish UC took place at a fantastic venue in Odense, and it was heartening to see a great turnout of attendees. I had the honor of delivering two lectures on Digital Twins, a topic that sparked interest and garnered positive feedback from the audience.
Following the conference, we returned to the vibrant city of Copenhagen for another exciting speaking engagement at Bloxhub. Bloxhub, the Nordic Hub for Sustainable Urbanization, is housed in a beautiful building on the Copenhagen Harbor, just across from the iconic pedestrian bridge, the Circle Bridge. Speaking at this prestigious venue, also home to the Danish Architecture Design Center, was a truly memorable experience.
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my hosts from Geoinfo (Esri Denmark), Jan Juul Jensen, Mads Schondel-Andersen, and Peter Hedberg. Their warm hospitality and meticulous organization made the trip even more enjoyable and fulfilling than I could have imagined.
After the professional engagements concluded, my wife Melanee and I had a few days to explore the enchanting city of Copenhagen. We marveled at the architectural wonders, strolled along the charming canals, and indulged in delicious Danish cuisine. For Melanee, this trip marked her first venture outside the United States, and it was truly heartening to witness her enthusiasm grow with each passing day. In fact, she even got an upgraded seat on our return flight, which further heightened her anticipation for future travels with me.
As usual, here are a few snapshots from our Danish adventure. We hope these visuals provide a glimpse into the beauty and allure of this remarkable country. Denmark has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on our hearts, and we eagerly look forward to the next opportunity to explore its wonders and share our experiences with the world.
Until then, may your own journeys be filled with joy, discovery, and the spirit of adventure.
