The One with the Best University in Zambia

There couldn’t have been a better place to accommodate my creativity the way University Of Lusaka has done over the last five years. Yet still, it’s safe to say that without my work experience at The Post, Vodafone Zambia, and Adlab McCann , I would not have thrived in my role as Marketing & Public Relations Officer. Really and truly: all things fall into place. And in the case of my place at UNILUS? I am confident that God designed it for me to flourish!

For an institution that specialises in providing quality education, they have also done a great job at providing a platform for me to display my love for: writing, content creation, video production, advertising, public engagement, and public relations. And what’s more? The Journalist in me has had a plethora of people to interview and feature in my video and content creation.

Still, the biggest blessing that UNILUS has given me has been the opportunity to grow my network. In my last article, I spoke about how I opened my LinkedIn account with the intention to grow my following. I was very intentional about it, but showcasing my work at UNILUS helped to skyrocket my numbers beyond what I’d have expected. Week in and week out, I’ve always got a story to tell. I believe that this storytelling has helped me to build my network. And you know that they say: your network is your net worth.

I’ve truly grown in my time at UNILUS and it’s evident in every way! Sometimes I reflect on the first videos I produced and compare them to the videos I produce today and I’m left in awe! But, like I said in my article – The One With the Renowned Media Company – “no story was ever written alone”. I have people like Isaac Musungilo (an alumnus) who have kept me on my toes – and a dozen more who have inspired me and pushed me to tell their stories through writing and video creation. It’s needless to say, I’ve grown deeply fond of my target market.

Outside of my daily responsibilities, I’ve been forced out of my comfort zone – most times into activities that I could only have dreamt of. I’ve lectured, I’ve invigilated, I’ve attended meetings with notable people, and thoroughly enjoyed my journey as the woman behind the camera and the keyboard.

?So, like I said, I am confident that God designed my role at UNILUS for me to flourish in! Who would have ever guessed that a Journalist with experience in the world of Marketing would get a thrill out of working in the world of Academia?
