Memoirs of GB Episode 100:?All is Well
This is the concluding episode of Memoirs of a Gully Boy.
I feel truly blessed for all the challenges, opportunities and people in my life all these three helped me to sculpt a memorable life journey so far. All through this journey, I had the privilege of being with some of the great human beings whose thoughts and actions shaped me to become a better person .
The first ten years of my childhood, I was one of the most notorious kids in the locality. I had a fascinating childhood to live among the underprivileged people and see them to struggle every day, but they never failed to cherish the happiness of enjoying small things in their life. The next 10 years of my life, I got lost in the madness of scoring high marks and trying to prove to my friends that I am one of those elite students only to realize that it’s not in scoring marks but to keep an open mind in learning and cherishing the knowledge of the subjects that you are passionate about is the true education.
In my early 20’s like every other aspirational fresher in the corporate world , I want to strive harder to prove my excellence at work. The discipline and attitude towards work helped me to climb the corporate ladder and thanks to some of my mentors who taught me valuable corporate lessons to navigate this snake and ladder game without compromising on my values and ethics. When you are passionate about the work rest of the perks and incentives follows, they are by-products. I never worried about the compensation but always focussed on progressive growth in my career. The next 15 years of my career and personal life taught me some of the valuable lessons which I narrated in this memoir series, The idea is not to write a biography of my greatness or to preach the greatest management lessons but definitely to share my life experience and some valuable inspirations which infused passion and compassion in my life journey.
End of the day, our life is balanced by our passion and compassion. Passion sometimes drives us crazy to excel in our field of work, but it also creates lot of imbalances in our personal and socially responsible life. Compassion is a lever that keep us humane, and it helps us to empathise with others, specially the underprivileged ones who sacrifice their life for the wellbeing of others.?
