Memoirs of GB Episode 68: The Trouble Tree, do you have one?

This is the story of the trouble tree . A narrative of an experience shared by a friend

" The carpenter I hired to help me restore an old farmhouse had just finished a rough first day on the job. A flat tire made him lose an hour of work, his electric saw quit, and now his ancient pickup truck refused to start. While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence.

On arriving, he invited me in to meet his family. As we walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands. When opening the door, he underwent an amazing transformation. His tanned face was wreathed in smiles, and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss.

Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree, and my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier.

Oh, that's my trouble tree," he replied." I know I can't help having troubles on the job, but one thing's for sure, troubles don't belong in the house with my wife and the children. So, I just hang them on the tree every night when I come home. Then in the morning I pick them up again. He paused and said.
"Funny thing is, he smiled, "when I come out in the morning to pick them up, there are not nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before."

Everyone of us have many rough days in our life, we take for granted our family members specially the spouse. We tried to show our frustrations and anger on them just because it’s not allowed in our workspace. Many a times they become the victim of our inability to cope up with stress and disappointments in our career. My simple advise is trying to find your trouble tree or anything that could allow you to create a virtual mental shelf space to keep your pending tasks, frustrations, and disappointments. We can always pick them up the next day and they weigh lighter than the day before. It's easier said than done but we must make an honest attempt to do this.

When you enter your home, there is a family which is waiting for your love and affection. They too have bad days, check with your children about their day in school/college and spend few minutes with your spouse checking about the traumas he/she had been through. After all life is not just made of work, there is a life beyond work, and you owe that to your family and friends.

  • For Fathers: One of the best things you can do for your children is to love and respect their mother
  • For Mothers: One of the best things you can do for your children is to love and respect their father

Teaching kids early about real love is an amazing gift they will treasure forever

In a lock factory they don’t just produce locks they also make keys to every lock. In a way ever problem has a key and sometimes you need the Master(s)key to unlock it. Try your best to find the key to unlock your problems.

There are 2 types of human beings in this world. One, they want others to suffer the same way they did and second one makes sure the other human being doesn't go through the suffering he/she experienced. Our experience, education and life must be to uplift the others and not to see them suffer.

Be that human, who wish and sees the less suffering in others.

Godspeed
