We depended upon you to apply critical thinking to complex subjects

We depended upon you to study and seek all analysis, not just the parts that pleased

We depended upon you to choose the harder right rather than the easier wrong

We depended upon you to understand that satisfaction is not in the position you hold, but the quality of the product you provide

We depended upon you to speak in plain language rather than intellectually obfuscatory terms

We depended upon you to weigh the effects of your position on those required to respond to your choices

We depended upon you to change a position when the facts dictated a change

We depended upon you to listen rather than bully a contrary opinion

We depended upon you to understand that politics stops with the deployment order

We depended upon you to understand that your position cannot be camouflaged by group participation

We depended upon you to speak clear truth to superiors when you understood the necessity

We depended upon you to understand that all are equal in terms of opinions

We depended upon you to understand that those that ate hamburger were equal to those that ate algae foamed scallops

We depended upon you to understand that the sands of Quang Tri and Tora Bora do not equate to that at the Cape and the Hamptons

We depended upon you understanding that your personal government aircraft does not equate to an assault helo on Short Final

We depended upon you to feel some degree of remorse and soul searching when you realized your position was really stupid

We depended upon you to understand that you worked for all Americans, not just some Americans

We depended upon you to understand that leaving government for a private sector job was a step down

We depended upon you to use your education and intellect to do good for the Nation, not irreparably bad

We hoped you had a picture of Arlington Cemetery and Omaha Beach on your desk?

We depend upon you to do better next time
