Meghan's Italian Adventure

Over winter break, our social media specialist Meghan Kelley traded in her usual "hello" for "ciao" as she travelled to Florence, Italy for her two-week study abroad program through KIIS. KIIS is focused on fostering student's love for travel while offering classes for students to gain international experience within their major. KIIS is based out of Kentucky but is in partnership with Ball State University.

The opportunity to study abroad in college is an unique and exciting adventure. For Meghan, it was an opportunity to learn more from another culture and see the PR world from a different perspective.

"I decided to study abroad because I've always loved to travel and I wanted to explore and enhance my video editing and writing skills," Kelley said. "The Storytelling in Media class I took while studying helped me develop those skills as well as sparked my interest in tourism and tourism PR."

Because of her study abroad experience, Meghan has been able to develop certain skills and characteristics that will help her succeed in her future career.

"Through my trip to Italy, I have developed my interpersonal skills and my confidence when in a new environment," Kelley said. "I was able to make lasting connections with the other students who were on the trip with me that I can use in my career as well."

Meghan's study abroad experience related to the work she has been doing at The McKinley Avenue Agency. Because of her involvement with the agency, she was able to adapt to her new surroundings and strengthen the skills she has gained as a social media specialist.

"McKinley Avenue helped me gain experience pacing myself with my work to fit deadlines and producing high-quality content quickly, which helped when it came to assignments given to me on this trip," Kelley said. "Italy helped me with my confidence in what I create and increased my editing and writing skills which I use in the agency often."
