Meetings Are Way To Long

Okay, we have all had those meetings which take too long, if you think back to the last three meeting you had and answer these questions, was it way to long? could you have sorted it via an email??

I know personally I have been in meeting when I have no idea why I turned up or totally tuned out after the first 15 min, all I was thinking about after 45 min was "What should I have for dinner", I bet a lot of you have done that as well.?

You may know I am a massive believer of not wasting any time, so if I can automate some of the simple tasks, or use technically to help me with other ones, the one thing I do not have control over is the time that is wasted on meetings.?

I have been thinking a lot about this over the last couple of weeks and have in the past run businesses which we would only do meetings standing up, to be honest that worked well as no one wanted to go on for hours if they are standing up.?

So below are some ideas I am using to save me time and effort on meetings.?

Can you just email it??

have you ever had that meeting request come over and look at it and said "What, I did that last week by email" So next time you get a meeting request asking you about something you can do via email, just answer the question via email and then you would hope you would not need to have a meeting, this will save you hours over a year.?

Stand Up!?

This may sound a little Elon Musk Silicon Valley type thing, I promise it works, next time you arrange a meeting with your team just tell them you are doing it all stood up.?

I bet the meeting goes very quickly as a rule people do not want to spend hours standing up, I am not saying stand in a circle, I was more thinking standing around the coffee machine or go for a walk.?

Drop the meeting times!?

I know you would have read that and said, "I can't tell a client I only have 15 min to speak to them", so you are 100% clear, I am not saying that about any client meetings or big meetings, I am talking about the small ones in the office or over teams.?

So, when you try and book a meeting for an hour to chat about the colour of your Pic pen order, change it to an email or set the meeting to be no more than 15 min, you will find it hard to keep to that time but will gain you so much time to give to the big meetings.?

So, in a perfect world if you can't do the meeting via email, it should look something like this...?

1st: Full Agenda with everything you want to talk about?

2nd: Book 15 min for the meeting or as near as you can?

3rd: Do the meeting standing up.?

If you can keep to these easy step, you will gain so much in the week.?
