MEETING OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE PATENT OFFICE OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN AND PATENT ATTORNEYS WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF "KAZPATENT IP FORUM"

KAZPATENT (Patent Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan) held a series of webinars within the framework of the forum "KAZPATENT IP Forum" from April 25 to 29, 2022. This event was timed to coincide with the International Intellectual Property Day, which takes place annually on April 26. This year's International Intellectual Property Day is dedicated to the theme "Intellectual Property and youth: innovations for the future".

To further develop the IP sphere and to strengthen the relationship of the expert organization with patent attorneys of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a round table on the topic "Development of the industrial property protection system: law enforcement practice" was held on April 28, 2022, within the framework of the KAZPATENT IP Forum with the participation of representatives of the Patent Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Patent attorneys of Nazarbayev University, Kazakh Law Academy named after M.S. Narikbayev, JSC "Institute of Metallurgy and Enrichment", NAO "Kazakh Agrotechnical University named after S.Seifullin" and other patent attorneys took part in the forum. The company "S&O" was represented by the Eurasian Patent Attorney, Patent Attorney of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Aizhan IMANSAYEVA.

The forum discussed topical issues of law enforcement practice in the Republic of Kazakhstan, which patent attorneys face when protecting intellectual property rights.

The round table was held in the format of a dialogue in a hybrid form, the leadership of the RSE "NIIS" was represented by Acting Director Abzal Estaev, who welcomed the participants and informed them about the holding of a number of events by the Institute dedicated to the development of knowledge and awareness in the field of intellectual property. In particular, KAZPATENT together with the summer school of the World Intellectual Property Organization plans to hold a Summer School in July of this year. This project will allow young specialists and students of higher educational institutions to acquire deeper knowledge in the field of intellectual property.?

The forum touched upon topical issues regarding the official translation of the International Classifier of Goods and Services into the state language, because in certain regions of Kazakhstan, applicants require registration of application materials and further paperwork in the Kazakh language.

Patent attorneys raised the issue of expanding the services provided by KAZPATENT for conducting a preliminary patent and information search as a separate service and deciding on the patentability of industrial property objects. At the same time, important issues of paperwork on applications related to the dating of notifications sent by the Office to the applicant, as well as the indication of the current status of the validity of security documents in the section "state registers" were discussed.

At the end of the meeting, the participants expressed gratitude for the organization and expressed hope for a further solution to the problems raised.
