In early 2023, employees at Shopify , the popular e-commerce platform, returned to work after the holiday break to some surprising news. To reduce unproductive meetings, Shopify had implemented a new policy: any recurring meeting with three or more people would be automatically canceled. Employees were instructed to leave them off for at least two weeks.
Studies estimate that employees spend around 23 hours weekly in meetings, with more than half of that time considered unproductive. Employees spend nearly a third of their workweek in meetings that do not generate meaningful outcomes. (One meeting costs the equivalent of 34 years of work yearly!)
Fewer and Better Meetings: the F.A.I.R. Test.
If you're tired of endless meetings that waste your time like me, it's time to make a change.
With the F.A.I.R. framework, you can ensure that your meetings are productive and efficient. F.A.I.R. stands for Format, Agenda, Invitees, and Reporting. Following these principles, you can cut your meeting time by up to 50%.

2 年A funny “poem” was shared by a friend (about meetings): 有事要开会,没事也开会,好事大家追,出事大家推。 上班没啥事,一直忙开会,大会接小会,神经快崩溃。 销售我不会,企划没学会,问我啥本领,专长是开会。 Loosely translated as: If you have something to do, you have a meeting. If you have nothing to do, you have a meeting too. If things are good, everyone will follow it. If things are bad, everyone will push it. I have done nothing at work, as I've been busy with meetings. Small meeting after big meeting, and my nerves are about to collapse. I don't know how to do sales. I didn't learn how to plan. I was asked what skills I had. My specialty was to hold meetings. ??♀?
