Meeting the high performance standards for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures

Abdominal endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is an essential tool in the diagnostic and/or preoperative work-up of endoluminal and pancreaticobiliary disease. In addition, therapeutic EUS is a rapidly expanding subdiscipline of interventional endoscopy, offering a minimally invasive alternative to surgery for a variety of indications.

The increased implementation of EUS in daily practice for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes demands continuous adaptation and improvement of the scopes and processors.

Fujifilm has taken a leading role in the development of EUS equipment to improve the quality of care for patients and offers a unique portfolio to meet the medical needs throughout all indications.

The EG-580UR scope is a forward-viewing endoscope with a slim outer diameter of 11.4mm, excellent bending properties and a working channer of 2.8mm. In this way, it strongly resembles a standard gastroscope. The scope allows for a one-step diagnostic examination combining gastroscopy, radial EUS and targeted punction (if needed) with 1 scope.

The EG-580UT scope has a 40° forward oblique view and an elevator control. A short atraumatic tip and a 3.8mm working channel makes this scope also suitable for well-controlled therapeutic interventions.

The SU-1 processor is a very compact system facilitating its use in any interventional room. The option of Contrast Harmonic Imaging (CHI) provides high spatial resolution whenever needed. Elastography provides info on tissue characteristics and may help to distinguish benign and malignant lesions and to target needle tissue sampling. Fine blood flow can be detected by the endoscopist with a sensitive doppler modality (f-Flow).

The availability of a high-end processor (Arietta-850) completes the picture. The powerful calculation of this system provides high contrast imaging sensitivity while the eFocusing modality reduces focus dependency and therefore leads to imaging with high homogeneity from the near to far field. The additional options of shearwave (SWM) measurement and detective flow imaging (DFI) further improves lesion characterization.

Combination of the EG-580 scopes with the Arietta-850 enables the endoscopist to perform detailed diagnostic procedures and the full spectrum of EUS-guided therapeutic interventions with high confidence.
