Meeting the Growing Need for Early Intervention Services in Hilo

Working in Early Intervention supporting keiki in the beautiful community of Hilo has been so rewarding for the entire team. Having our center where talented team members provide services to families – from helping keiki develop motor skills and communication to providing specialized therapies - we are constantly growing the team here to support the growing needs of Hilo side families.

Our resident occupational therapist of 13 years, Angela Savage, loves working with families – parents, aunties, uncles, grandparents – and collaborating with them to have the best success. She and her colleagues use a holistic approach that helps little ones thrive and reach their goals. Angela has shared how rewarding her career in this community is, so helping her and our whole team do that incredible work is what drives us as a unit. Not only to continue supporting families, but to expand our team with a Speech Language Pathologist and a Physical Therapist.

Many families have to travel great distances for such services, with some even flying to Oahu to larger facilities where these professionals are concentrated. To have these clinical specialties here in Hilo would make a world of difference to Hilo side families and keiki in need of treatment to support communication, language development, and motor skills growth.
