Meeting Green Initiatives With Advanced Battery Technology

Organizations across a wide spectrum of industries are all looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprint. These green initiatives often involve a number of technologies and programs designed to accomplish various goals. These goals can include reducing the amount of energy an organization uses, implementing more efficient systems, and deploying sustainable energy generation technologies like solar.

One of the technologies leading the way in these green initiatives—especially for construction companies, event venues, and rental companies that provide energy equipment—is the POWRBANK system developed by POWR2.

How POWRBANK Works

POWRBANK is an advanced lithium battery energy storage system that charges using the excess, unused energy generated from other sources. The primary application is for use with diesel generators.

When a conventional diesel generator is being used, energy being produced is either used by equipment connected to it or it is simply wasted. Even when there are no electrical loads a generator will be left running at idle speed burning fuel and generating emissions unnecessarily.

When connected to a POWRBANK, however, the generator only runs to charge the system or provide power to the load at optimal engine efficiency. There are a variety of benefits to such a system, such as reducing noise pollution on-site and cutting fuel costs. But for green initiatives, the upside is clear: reduced emissions.

Planning a Green Initiative

Among the variety of goals for green initiatives, most companies generally pledge to reach net-zero emissions. But what exactly does this entail? There are a variety of ways to get to net-zero emissions, and most of these methods are used in combination.

The most obvious first step is to increase the efficiency of your processes and reduce energy waste. If you can get the same amount done while using less energy, you’re well on your way toward sustainable energy usage.

However, it is impossible to get to zero emissions through efficiency alone. Clean energy generation plays a role but often can’t meet the energy demands of heavy construction equipment. In this situation, it will be necessary to purchase carbon offsets. In essence, there are organizations that will plant trees in line with how many carbon offsets you purchase. The amount required to offset your energy demands can be finely calculated, meaning offsets can be purchased to bring you directly to net zero.

To get there without having to invest massive sums in offsets, however, it is important to make efficient use of all of your equipment. This is what the POWRBANK system from POWR2 allows you to do.

Hitting Your Green Goals

When less fuel is being burned to accomplish tasks (and, therefore, less carbon and other compounds are being emitted), an organization needs to reduce reliance on tools like carbon offsets to reach their net-zero carbon goals. POWRBANK is one of the most effective technologies for reducing demand on diesel generators. To learn more about how POWRBANK could be appropriate for your facility or project, give us a call.
