???The challenges of improving component traceability

At Fischer Automotive, the challenge was implementing direct part marking for new components, particularly in aluminum hot-forming processes. The company identified three key challenges:

1???Meeting traceability requirements

Each hot-formed aluminum component required a unique serial number to ensure optimum traceability, allowing material origin and production history to be effectively monitored.

2???Facing readability constraints

After investigating dot-peen marking technology, Fischer identified problems with the quality and readability of markings, particularly for Datamatrix codes. These markings required special lighting and precise positioning to be readable, making them unsuitable for customer requirements.

3???Addressing space and safety constraints

The limited space available on the production line meant that a compact, secure, and easy-to-install solution had to be found that was compatible with the stringent safety standards in an open environment.

???An integrable Fiber Laser for direct part marking

To meet these industrial marking challenges, we proposed to Fischer Automotive our F-SERIES Fiber Laser, designed for demanding industrial environments. With its cast aluminum structure and high-quality optical components, this laser provides fast, permanent marking on almost all metals. In addition, its ease of installation means it can be easily mounted in any position, providing a durable and effective solution.

We also recommended the Mini-inline, a protection nose designed for our integrable laser markers, which can be fitted with an integrated camera system. This accessory protects the laser beam and eliminates the need for costly and time-consuming housings.
