Meet you in a Metaverse!
The latest buzzword of the tech industry is?#Metaverse
Its not just because Facebook changed its name to "Meta" and Zuckerberg is pinning his hope on this platform.
Not because 10s of billions?committed this year alone by Microsoft, Facebook, Walmart, NFT and DeFi sectors
Because it promises a fantastic platform to bring together all the digital innovations to create a virtual world that feels real.
Well, what is a metaverse?
?Put it simply, it is a virtual world/universe. Typically experienced using VR and immersive technology.
?Wait...Isn't that we already see in a video game every VR headset uses? ?
Well, yes. However this world will be persistent and live.
Imagine a virtual office with your own desk you can go to everyday, meet your colleagues, clients and friends pretty much like you do in the real world.?
Using immersive technology, we enter into the realm of this virtual universe, interact with other people like we do in real world.
If AR and VR transport us into a virtual world briefly, metaverse makes that world personalised, persistent and live
Where is it?
Development of metaverse applications and environments is still very much a greenfield. Unlike two popular mobile platforms, there are already a myriad players and devices in the market, making it more challenging for rapid app development.

Microsoft Mesh platform will be a good sneak peak, while we continue to wait
Some predictions..
?Will there be just one metaverse? Or multiple connected virtual worlds???
It will be a safe to assume there will be multiple metaverses (like each gaming world) which may eventually be interconnected.
Will VR be essential to enter a metaverse?
For a complete immersive experience, yes. However there will be options until these devices are more widely used. As an example Microsoft Teams is getting ready with 3D virtual avatars and environments which can work on mobiles and PC.
Will people start to live more in metaverse than in real world??
The distinction between metaverse and real world will become blur and be more like the time we spend on mobile phones/ digital world.?
?Final thoughts..
In the near future, immersive?workplace, immersive?education and immersive?entertainment will create few virtual worlds for us to interact and be part of...
We will likely have few avatars one on each world...
?See you soon in a metaverse..
