As we celebrate Women's Month in South Africa, we're excited to introduce some of the incredible women at Genasys. Meet Aneri van den Berg, our Operations Manager, who encourages women to lift each other up and remember that success is not just about reaching the top - it's about embracing the journey.

Can you describe your role at Genasys and what you find the most rewarding about your work?

In my role at Genasys, I oversee all aspects of operations, including client support, escalations, and staff management. My primary responsibility is to manage the support operations process, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery to our clients. This is crucial for enhancing organisational profitability and success. I work closely with my team to anticipate and respond to client needs, ensuring that any issues or escalations are promptly addressed with the highest level of professionalism. This involves strategic planning, control, and continuous performance improvement to meet and exceed client expectations.

What I find most rewarding is the opportunity to lead and support my team in delivering exceptional service, fostering strong client relationships, and consistently providing value and excellence to our clients. None of this would be possible without the incredible Genasys team.

What inspired you to pursue a career in your field, and how has your journey been so far?

I am deeply inspired by people - their potential and their achievements. Witnessing individuals grow and succeed is incredibly rewarding and has been a key motivator in my career choice. Alongside this, my passion for driving organisational profitability through efficient operations and delivering excellence to our clients led me to pursue my career in operations management. My journey so far has been fulfilling, as it allows me to blend strategic thinking with a people-centric approach, focusing not only on optimizing processes and increasing profitability, but also on empowering the team to achieve their full potential.

What are some of your hobbies or activities that you enjoy in your spare time?

I love spending time with my family, being in nature and staying active. I enjoy playing golf, going to the gym, mountain biking, and watching rugby.

As we celebrate Women's Month, what message or advice would you like to share with other women striving to succeed in their careers?

I want to remind every woman that your voice matters, your dreams are valid, and your resilience is your greatest asset. Success isn't just about reaching the top; it's about embracing the journey, learning from challenges, and lifting others as you rise. Your uniqueness and strength are what set you apart.

How do you think women in our industry can be better supported?

I believe we often underestimate the transformative power of empathy, especially in our industry. Empathy fosters an environment where accountability is seen as a tool for growth rather than a source of fear. When we approach each other with compassion and understanding, we create a culture that encourages open communication and innovation. This is particularly important for women in our industry, who face unique challenges and barriers. By promoting a more empathetic and inclusive workplace, we can empower women to contribute their best without fear of judgement or failure.
