Meet three of Mercedes-Benz Cars newest degree apprentices

Three of Mercedes-Benz Cars newest degree apprentices, Grace Hosking, Khadija Khan and Morgan Atkinson, share their experiences of our company and culture so far

Hello Grace, Khadija and Morgan, what area of the business are you currently based in and how far into your apprenticeship are you?

Khadija: “I’m in the first month of the Digital and Technology Solutions apprenticeship in the IT department.”

?

Grace: “I’m a week into my apprenticeship with my first placement being in Marketing.”

?

Morgan: “I’m coming into my third week as an apprentice in Mercedes-Benz Parts Logistics.”

?

What are you enjoying most so far?

?

Khadija: “I’m enjoying the insight I’m getting from all areas of the business and hearing from colleagues about their experiences.”

?

Grace: “Learning on the job as it’s a great way to understand how Mercedes-Benz operates – not only learning about the business but also discovering what interests me.”

?

Morgan: “I enjoy the opportunities we get as apprentices to meet senior colleagues in the business and listen to what they do and how they got to where they are.”

?

What first attracted you to an apprenticeship with Mercedes-Benz?

?

Khadija: “Many reasons! Not just the opportunities but their outlook on the environment. It was also important for me to find a workplace with a safe and inclusive culture, so I can feel comfortable and can excel in my apprenticeship.”

?

Grace: “Mercedes-Benz stood out to me because the thought of being part of a company that entails luxury, empowerment and commitment to excellence was too hard to resist.”

?

Morgan: “Mercedes-Benz is a company known across the world and the opportunities that could arise from this apprenticeship are endless. They had all I wanted and more and have everything I need to ensure I can succeed over the next four years.”

?

Did the culture of the business factor into your choice?

?

Khadija: “The culture of the business was definitely a factor – at my assessment centre I got to see the ‘open door’ approach in action and could see how well-connected colleagues are. As a Muslim woman of colour, I’m happy to say the culture matches up to my own values. I can remain connected to my faith and be part of a workforce that accepts and supports everyone for who they are.”

?

Grace: “It mattered to me that the working environment and culture was friendly, approachable and trustworthy. Thankfully the Mercedes-Benz’s culture is to aspire to be great and every person here is striving for constant improvement.”

?

Morgan: “The culture of a business should be a factor wherever you’re applying to because a diverse culture reflects the business’ visions and habits.”

?

What do you hope to get out of your time here?

?

Khadija: “I’d like to carve the way for my career in the world of technology at a time where tech is advancing fast and paving the way for the future.”

?

Grace: “I want to gain some truly invaluable skills and experience that I can take throughout the rest of my career at Mercedes-Benz.”

?

Morgan: “I hope I’ll be able to gain skills in many different areas which will open opportunities for me in future roles and allow me to progress higher in the business.”
