Introducing Eleven’s newest hire, Ximin (Rita) Lin, bringing with her a ton of experience in BD and Partnerships. Previous to this role, as founder of her own English tutoring business, she expanded student enrolment by 90 participants in just one summer utilizing targeted marketing strategies.

As our newly appointed Business Development Specialist in APAC, she’ll be helping us identify? new business opportunities across all our practices.?

Ximin currently works out of Taipei, joining our fellow colleagues Camilla Tenn and Stewart Haston . We are excited to have her on board!?

Here’s what we asked her about her life and some of the responsibilities that she’ll be taking on at Eleven International.

Q: Let’s start big: Tablet or Laptop? Bicycle or Scooter? Hot Pot or KBBQ? Dogs or cats?

Laptop, bicycle, hard to choose lol. I love both.

Q: How did you first get connected with Eleven?

I initially became acquainted with ELEVEN through my friend Camilla, who introduced me to Francis. Following that, I had a series of three interviews with Francis and Linsheng to get to know more about each other. Throughout the interview process, I was genuinely impressed by the team's positive atmosphere and energy. It became evident that the alignment between the team and myself was a mutually beneficial fit.?

Q: What would you say is the best thing (so far) about working with a fully remote team?

I would say the greatest aspect of collaborating with a fully remote team is the incredible flexibility it provides. I have the freedom to work from various cafes each day and even have the option to work from different cities. For instance, I have the upcoming opportunity to attend the MWC EXPO in Shanghai on 6/28.

Following the event, I plan to stay in Shanghai for a few extra days to immerse myself in the diverse working environments offered by the city's cafes during the day and will witness the captivating beauty of the city at night. This level of freedom and flexibility is something that traditional office-based work cannot offer.

Q: What is your first impression of the team at Eleven International, in their professional capacities or otherwise?

Well, this is my first experience working in a PR agency. Prior to this, my background primarily revolved around the education and US real estate financial investment sectors.

However, I have been pleasantly surprised by the collaborative and supportive nature of our team at Eleven International. Every team member showcases a remarkable level of expertise in their individual roles and exhibits a strong dedication to their work. This environment has provided me with crucial support and assistance, enabling me to learn quickly and adapt effectively. I feel so proud to be part of this amazing team.

Q: Balancing work and home life can be difficult, especially when working from home. Do you have any thoughts (insights) about how remote work culture could be made more manageable?

When working remotely, I often choose to work from cafes. One time management technique that I find helpful is time blocking. I allocate specific time blocks for different types of tasks or activities. For instance, I set aside specific periods for focused and deep work, schedule? time slots for meetings and collaboration, and designate short breaks for rest and rejuvenation. By following this approach, I am able to work efficiently.

Q: What area of the tech world makes you the most excited, and what should everyone watch out for in that space?

I'm incredibly passionate about the exciting progress happening in Generative AI technology. It's absolutely captivating to see how AI is being seamlessly integrated into a wide range of products, resulting in the development of truly mind-blowing functionalities. The exposure I've had to various companies and products in this field during my work has further fueled my anticipation for the unimaginable future growth and speed of Generative AI.

Q:What are you currently reading/listening to that is getting you excited about emerging tech?

I enjoy indulging in podcasts and books during my leisure time to relax and expand my knowledge. Recently, I discovered an intriguing book called "The Fourth Industrial Revolution." It provides valuable insights into groundbreaking technologies such as AI, robotics, IoT, 3D printing, and genetic engineering. This enlightening read explores their disruptive impact on traditional business models and their transformative potential across different industries. It has further fueled my anticipation for the exciting realm of emerging technologies.

Q: Do you have any travel tips for friends thinking of visiting your hometown, Fuzhou, Fujian?

If you ever get the chance to visit Fuzhou, I highly recommend checking out the fascinating Three Lanes and Seven Alleys and the picturesque West Lake Park. I had the incredible experience of wearing traditional Hanfu attire and capturing some stunning photos in these two places. Trust me, they are incredibly beautiful and shouldn't be missed. Oh, and make sure you don't miss out on trying the famous Fuzhou lychee pork—it's my absolute favorite local delicacy.

Q: What is your go to Mobile App? (for both work and entertainment)

When it comes to work, my go-to mobile app for communication with colleagues is Lark. It's incredibly convenient and user-friendly. As for entertainment, I must admit that I try to avoid installing too many apps on my phone to minimize distractions. However, there is one app that stands out for me, which is Instagram. I have a passion for photography actually, so I use it to share some photos from time to time.
