Meet the team: Wayne Mulhall
Meet the team!
Today we’re continuing our meet the team series with our Managing Director, Wayne Mulhall, who joined us 2021. This year he’s running to be a member of the RenewableUK board!
Find out more about him and his role at James Fisher Renewables below:
Could you provide a brief overview of your career history?
I have a enjoyed a really varied career, with a particular highlight of leading on the successful delivery of the UK’s first 8MW turbines at Burbo Bank, the latest generation of large turbines.
Before my time at James Fisher, I worked for two of the largest turbine manufacturers in the world. I’ve also had a highly international career, in the UK, Benelux, Japan, Taiwan and the US.
What do you enjoy the most about working in the renewables sector?
For me, the most enjoyable part about working in the industry is the opportunities that are on the horizon, and the chance to really make a difference in the transition to a cleaner energy future.

I’m also currently running to be on the RenewableUK board (read my manifesto here), which I’m really excited about! I hope to be able to draw on my experience in both renewables and oil and gas, subsea and topside, offshore and onshore, and across the supply chain to bring extra depth to the RUK board and allow us to take a broader strategy to Net Zero. ?
Why do you want to be part of the RenewableUK board?
The RUK board embodies the spirit and the energy that the UK needs to bring about a sustainable, just transition to cleaner fuel sources, as well as all my personal passions for accelerating renewables.
Having spent a lot of my earlier career in oil & gas, I want to ensure the legacy I leave behind for my children and grandchildren’s generation is a greener energy future. It’s so important that the industry works together towards this common goal, and I would love the opportunity to play an even greater part in it.
In your opinion, what are the most exciting opportunities for growth in the renewables sector and where do you see James Fisher Renewables having the greatest impact?
In terms of where we see the greatest opportunities, we’re focusing not just on fixed base offshore wind, but also on onshore and floating offshore wind, as well as battery storage and hydrogen, which we see as crucial elements in the global journey to Net Zero.
This journey requires passionate experts with the knowledge to serve the complete energy supply chain. Our company’s history is in oil and gas, but we began our own energy transition 14 years ago. We know the pain points others will face in this journey, and our engineering innovation and talent are perfectly placed to support the next wave of renewable construction and development.
