Meet The Team - Simon Cooper
Central Tyre
We stock a wide range of agricultural & commercial truck tyres all fitted to the highest standard of service.
Tell us a little about yourself.?When did you join and what roles have you had?
I have been in the tyre industry for 35 years. I joined Central Tyre in 2013 starting as a Business Development Manager up until 2019 when I moved to the operations side of the business as a Hub Manager.
Why did you apply to work for Central Tyre?
I had worked for Central Tyre when it was owned by Pirelli and enjoyed my time working with the people there the majority of which are still working here today. This demonstrated that you could build a career here and opportunities to progress would be available as I could see from some of the managers that were on the fitting staff originally and managers that had become Hub Managers.
What was it that attracted you to the role?
My current role is something that I hadn’t done previously, I had always been on the sales side of the business rather than actually managing the delivery of the service. This is a challenge that I wanted to take on.
How do you think your personality helps you with your job at Central Tyre?
I am naturally able to communicate and get along with most people. Good at building a team and also getting the most from an individual, as a keen sportsman competing mainly in teams have always been a leader on the pitch whether as a captain or just demonstrating a good team ethic my role in the team was always able to get things moving in the right direction or correct what was not working.
What’s the best thing about working for Central Tyre?

Spending time with the manager understanding events/situations/offering assistance correcting things. Speaking with all staff members ensuring that all is okay. Check 10% of stock to ensure all is in place. Assist where it is needed ie answer phone resolve some queries and chase up things from HO/Manufacturers/Casing collections.

No you don’t however I had experience and knowledge gained from my time in the industry.

The achievement of a goal/task particularly when it is a team goal.

Pleasure in seeing my team produce and improving their performance. It is also very satisfying to see a trainee develop into a top quality fitter and also the manger get a better result from their team.
