Eat Work Art
Inspiring environments nurture creativity. Unique office spaces for creative businesses that think differently.
How long have you been with Eat Work Art and can you tell us a bit about your career journey to get here?
I've been with EWA for just over three years now, I came on board as Assistant Manager of Hackney Downs Studios and have worked my way up into the Operations team.
Before EWA I was helping manage an arts centre near Reading that focused on community building and small fringe theatre. I always knew that I wanted a career within community building and the arts and this job was the perfect fit for me.
What does a day in the life of Sam (Operations Lead) look like??
The usual really! Wake up and make coffee for the housemates, cruise through Hackney on my bike, save a cat stuck in a tree, do a bottle flip with a fire extinguisher and arrive at work for exactly 9:55 am.
Everyday is different depending on what projects we're working on across sites but in general I make sure the IT is working across buildings and then crack on with our projects. As long as everyone leaves my company slightly happier than they were when I arrived then I think doing an alright job!
How would you describe the Eat Work Art company culture??
So much fun and really wholesome, we work hard to create a culture of creativity and innovation. That has to start with the company culture inside our office. I know everyone says their work team is like their family, but I genuinely believe we have something special here.
Now on to the good stuff... any food/art/culture recommendations for London right now??
Food: Escocesa and SlowBurn.
For all you fringe theatre lovers: SAMSKARA at the Yard Theatre is a beautiful, visceral, raw view of race and coming-of-age in London.
'Rare Earth Mettle'?is on for another week at The Royal Court Theatre and it is a masterclass in script writing and acting.?Arthur Darvill absolutely?nailed the lead role, well worth a watch (for £12 if you're under 27!).
We hear you’re quite the outdoorsman, got any exciting activities in the pipeline?
Next year I'm planning on smashing the three peaks challenge, cycling to Paris (250miles of fun) and hoping to do a bit more scuba diving!
