MEET THE TEAM: Sam Freeman

Meet Sam Freeman, a newbie to the Baltimore area. He recently joined Team ABW as a Sales Consultant and brings over five years of appliance experience. Since the move, he has connected with the art and culture that Baltimore has to offer.

“Baltimore has a lot of cool history of art and interesting people. John Waters is from here and David Bryne from The Talking Heads went to MICA. There are a ton of cool theaters, for example, The Charles and The Senator. I’m big into film, and there are a lot of film-related things to do around here, and cool bands from this area.” said Sam.

Before merging with ABW in 2021, Cummins Appliance was an icon of local commerce, having been founded by the Cummins family in 1928. After joining ABW and learning about the historical ties Cummins Appliance has to the Pikesville area, Sam discovered that even his girlfriend's family were former clients of Cummins.

“[The Cummins legacy] is bigger than I realized. It’s very ingrained within the history of Pikesville,” said Sam.

Coming from the corporate world, Sam says ABW excels at being customer-focused. Unlike big-box stores where customers are mostly left on their own to figure out what they need, whether it’s in stock, and how to get it, ABW clients can connect personally with a sales consultant, who will guide them every step of the way to find the best appliances for their home and budget.

The benefits of being a local and independent appliance dealer extend to the ABW employee experience as well. “All the people that I’ve run into are really nice and personable,” said Sam. “If I have to get an answer it’s way easier than trying to contact a third-party company contracted to provide service or delivery. It’s easier to know the name of a specific person who can help me rather than having no idea who to call or anything.”?

Something that might surprise people to know about Sam is that he writes comics. His series is expected to release by a publisher next year. In his free time, he goes to the movies and hangs out with his girlfriend and dog.?
