This past year, our team has grown ??

From a small (but mighty) team of 20 to a thriving group of over 100 virtual meeting experts, high-flyers, and champion collaborators, our commitment as an all-remote team has only gotten stronger. This week, we chatted with Jacob to get an idea of what his role entails at Newton.

What is your role at Newton?

I’m Newton’s Customer Success (CX) Manager. I oversee the entire Customer Success Team. My days always look different, but generally most of my work involves team management and support.?

What is the best part of your role?

This sounds super cliché, but it’s the people I get to work with every day. The level of intelligence and engagement is unlike any other. The company culture is also really a cut above other workplaces.

If you could describe Newton’s culture in 3 words - how would you describe it?

Friendly: Everybody is super open and accepting, no matter what your idea is or where you are in the company. Anybody is open to a call with anybody at any time.

Transparent: People aren’t afraid to come forward and speak their minds.Everybody is allowed and encouraged to voice their opinion. This is a big part of our company’s philosophy both internally and externally: to be brutally honest with our customers and with each other in the pursuit of truth.?

Enthusiastic: It always feels like everyone I talk to just wants to be here. It never feels like there is a day when people aren’t giving it 100%.

What would you say to someone looking to apply to Newton?

Just get involved in the space any way you can. Learning by doing is often the best philosophy when it comes to crypto. Especially with Customer Success, it's not your background, but rather how much you know and how well you can communicate that information.

How do you find working remotely?

Best part - no commute. Gas prices are too crazy. If I’m having a day I can roll out of bed two minutes before my shift and put out the same amount of work as in an office. Everyone is comfortable on-camera in hoodies and jeans (casual dress).

I love the ability to work from anywhere - I like to sit in my recliner.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I am a part-time plant dad and in the summer I grow vegetables. I also enjoy hiking.

What is a fun fact about you?

I studied Renewable Energy and now work in crypto! I recently visited Toronto for the first time this year - I would never live there. Fun to visit, but I wouldn’t want to visit for other than vacation purposes.

What is a key feature to the best home office?

A reliable coffee maker and a comfy pair of sweatpants.
