Meet the Team: Natalie
Titan Airways
Titan Airways is a leading European charter airline providing the highest standards of safety, service, and reliability.
Tell me a bit about the beginning of your career at Titan?
?I started working for Titan in May 2019 after giving birth to my twins! When the twins were three months old, I was offered my job as a Captain at Titan on the 737 Cargo Aircraft. Working on the 737 really suited me as it meant I wasn’t away from home for too long. I’d usually start work at 8pm and finish around 3am, which really suited me at the time so I could get back and see the little ones.
Did you always want to be a Pilot?
I was actually an Archaeologist before I was a pilot! I read Archaeology at University College London, but that was purely because my mother told me I needed something to fall back on in the event that I didn’t make it as a pilot! But I always wanted to fly – I had my first flight at 14 and got my Private Pilot Licence at 18. I started my pilot training at 19 and did this simultaneously with my degree.
Have there been any particularly memorable places that you have travelled to with Titan?
?A few years ago, we picked up a contract in Italy, so we spent a week flying out of a local airport there. By this point the kids were a little bit older, so I was happy to work away for slightly longer. Spending time in the heart of Italy, driving around Lake Garda, eating local food and staying in a quaint village hotel is something I won’t forget in a hurry! I was in Italy at the beginning of 2020 when the Covid outbreak started, and Italy was really badly affected. Fortunately, our founder, Gene’s private jet came to the rescue and brought me back to the UK!
?What was flying and working for Titan like during and after Covid?
?Everyone worked incredibly hard during Covid, particularly the Cargo team. We had some fantastic opportunities because Cargo was so in demand (and everyone was online shopping!) We’d do a whole range of jobs, like picking up car parts and travelling to places we had never been to before.
?Unfortunately, in 2021 I was diagnosed with a brain tumour, so I wasn’t able to fly for over a year, but I got my medical back in January 2022 and was back to flying the 737! Since then, I have started flying the A320, and it’s been great to get back to flying passengers and cabin crew again. This was something I really missed when I was flying Cargo.

?Flying on the A320 I’ve worked on lots of flights for Tui, Jet 2 and some ski flights – I’ve been all over the place really, to places like Tenerife, Spain, Greece and Turkey. I haven’t done a huge amount of the round the world tours as I don’t want to be away for home for too long, but I’ve put myself down for a couple of the two-week tours which I would love to do.
You started at Titan in 2019. Has the company changed much in that time?
?Because there are so many different types of aircraft and things that we do, Titan is always changing, but in a good way. Now that I’m flying the A320, I’m always meeting new people too. The airline is certainly growing, but still has that ‘family’ feel to it. I know everyone by name, and I’d feel comfortable saying hello to anyone at Titan - everyone is so friendly.
?For me personally, I’ve also just passed my standards check and I am now officially a Line Training Captain! I’m excited to be starting this new chapter and to see where this takes me.
