Meet the Team: Miina

Tell us about your career and how you ended up joining Titan Airways.

I was practically born into aviation- my mother was cabin crew, and my father was a pilot for Finnair. While I never fancied flying myself, aviation was always in my blood.

After completing aircraft mechanics training in Finland, where I grew up, I began my career with a temporary contract at Finnair. However, a major strike led to many contracts not being renewed. That setback prompted me to transition into logistics, where I worked for a few years before an incredible opportunity came my way in 2003. A friend started an airline in Greece, and I moved to Heraklion to work for a Swedish charter airline in ground operations. It was the next move in my career, which eventually brought me to the UK, where I took on different roles in ramp, dispatch, operations and training.

In 2018, eager to return to working for an airline, I joined Qatar Airways at Gatwick as an Airport Services Supervisor. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic brought the industry to a standstill, and uncertainty loomed over its recovery.

However, when I saw Titan Airways advertising for loadmasters, I seized the opportunity. It was the perfect chance to leverage my 20 years of experience in a dynamic and rewarding role, marking the start of an exciting new chapter in my aviation journey.

What advice would you give to anyone looking to pursue a career similar to yours?

Immerse yourself in every opportunity to learn- soak up knowledge from every department and observe how others work. Stay proactive and continuously refine your skills, seeking out courses and training whenever possible. Aviation is a field where opportunities can be rare, so persistence is key.

Approach the industry with an open mind, ready to embrace irregular hours and tackle challenges head on, the journey is absolutely worth it. With dedication and adaptability, aviation can be an incredibly rewarding career, offering endless possibilities for those who are committed.

Have there been any particular highlights since starting your career at Titan?

Absolutely. Every day brings something new and exciting. I've had the privilege of flying humanitarian aid missions, participating in round the world trips, and visiting remarkable World Heritage sites along the way. The diversity of the role is truly incredible.

One of the standout moments was being part of the Coca-Cola FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour in 2022- spending four weeks flying across Europe. Working on TCS and Four Seasons trips has been equally rewarding. I feel extremely fortunate for these experiences; it's rare to have the opportunity to visit some of the incredible places I've been.

What makes Titan stand out as a company compared to other places you’ve worked?

Titan has a unique, family like atmosphere. When you walk into the office, everyone greets you- it’s a place where you’re never just a number. The camaraderie is remarkable; even when flying with someone for the first time, there’s never an awkward moment.

The variety of work also sets Titan apart- we handle everything from cargo operations to VIP flights and even special missions like flying kids to meet Santa at Christmas. The combination of Titan’s work environment and range of opportunities makes it an exceptional place to work.
