This year, I celebrated my fifth year of business. I’ve learned a lot in the past five years, but the biggest lesson: you can’t do it alone. If you’re anything like me, relinquishing even the tiniest bit of control can be challenging. After all, Incontrera Consulting is my baby, so why shouldn’t I have a finger in every pie??

Because of burnout, that’s why.?

As I grew, heading up every single project and writing every Tweet was starting to take its toll. I was working absurdly long days, and I was exhausted. I knew I had to lighten up on the reins, and so I swallowed my anxiety and let go… a little bit. And guess what? It was great. All of a sudden I had time to focus on the big stuff. I could have dinner with friends and see more Broadway shows. I could even sometimes get the recommended amount of sleep. I’m still learning, but I know now that I can trust my team to maintain the excellent work they do every day.?

So this week, I want to introduce you to my amazing, creative, hard-working team of contractors. I hope this inspires you to let others in, trust them, and accept help when you need it. Even if you’re a solopreneur, you still need support from others. You can’t do it alone.

Team TEDx

One of the focuses of my business is helping clients develop their idea into a successful TEDx talk. We've helped over 50 talks get on stages and spoken (!), but it takes hard work to maintain that success. Melissa (she/her) was one of my very first hires, and she along with Summer (she/her), is responsible for TEDx research, applications, and pitching. If you’ve ever tried to apply for a TEDx, you know how involved and time-consuming the application process can be. I’m so grateful to have their support behind the scenes.?

Team Social Media

Social media is a huge part of Incontrera Consulting, and our client list seems to grow every day. This I could never do alone! On LinkedIn, Megan (she/her) and Summer (mentioned above) assist with helping clients grow their network and maximize their impact. On Twitter, Ariana (she/her) and Liz (she/her) create content and compose compelling tweets, increasing engagement daily. Sophie (they/them) is our Instagram pro, specializing in social justice content and copywriting. Over the time they have been with us, Sophie has helped clients create engaging content and captivating copy. With their help, clients have seen major growth in both following and engagement. Amanda (she/her) is an expert in social strategy (with a specialty in real estate) and is Facebook Ads Certified. When a client needs direction and focus with their social media, Amanda is there to help create an effective strategy, and her expertise in Facebook Ads allows clients to connect with their ideal audience. And who keeps all these social media plates in the air? Elaine (she/her), that’s who. Elaine helps with social media scheduling and management, keeping us all on track, up-to-date, and functioning seamlessly.?

Podcast Booking

Over the past two years, we have seen major growth in our podcast services. Once only reserved for your commute, podcasts are now a constant companion for many of us. When clients launch a new offer, release a book, or just want to grow their thought leadership presence, podcasts are the way to go. Katy (she/her) and I work together to help clients develop talking points, and she does the heavy research and big outreach it takes to help clients reach their goals. Bringing together a client with the right podcast is almost like being a matchmaker, and? Stephanie (she/her) and Sarah (she/her) are also researching and reaching out to help clients find their perfect match.?

Video Editing and Audio/Podcast Production

Have you ever tried to edit your own video? How about audio? I’ll tell you from experience: it isn’t easy. Thankfully I have help. In addition to LinkedIn growth, Megan is responsible for all of our video editing. Whether it’s for social media or something more long-form, Megan keeps your video tight and focused, allowing your message to shine through. Stephanie doesn’t only book podcasts, she’s also an expert in audio production. She helps clients record and edit podcasts and other audio, delivering a high-quality, clear listening experience.?

Copywriting and Editing

When they are not busy on Instagram or working on podcast research, Sophie and Katy assist me with writing and editing the huge amounts of copy that come in and out of the business every day. Sophie is an expert in short-form copy, and they deliver precise, engaging, and effective results, making every word count. For long-form copy like blogs and newsletters, Katy can help deliver captivating copy, delivered in your unique voice.?

Internal Operations

Want to know where all the bodies are buried? Enter Amber (she/her). Amber is responsible for capturing leads, and has bravely taken on Quickbooks from Lorrie (she/her), who is currently on maternity leave. The gratitude I have for that cannot be expressed enough - those two know where the bodies are buried. Sarah and Katy help keep my email under control when I’m out of the office or having a day from hell. Ariana recently completed her MBA with a focus on project management and operations, and when she’s not on Twitter, she is doing the life-changing work of helping me to organize and delegate work. It’s a big job, and it’s more important than I could have possibly realized. As we grow the business, I know I can count on Ariana to keep things running smoothly and effectively.?

Without this team of incredible humans alongside me, I couldn’t do what I love for a living, and I’ll never stop being grateful for them. It wasn’t easy, but taking the leap, accepting help, and trusting the good people around me paid off in ways I couldn’t have imagined. So what are you waiting for??
