Meet the team: Maida Zahirovi?

Could you provide a brief overview of your career history?

Following my Engineering degree, I’ve enjoyed a unique and varied fourteen-year career with roles at Siemens Wind Power and Vestas, particular personal highlights of negotiating the turbine supply agreement for Kincardine floating offshore wind farm and leading the MHI Vestas Taiwan setup, providing offshore wind localisation scope.

My career has also seen me work on projects across the globe in Europe and APAC, most recently in my previous role at JFR as APAC Regional VP. This experience has further ignited my passion for collaboration and working together in achieving our common goals for a greener energy industry.

What do you enjoy the most about working in the renewables sector?

I love the passion, energy, and resilience of the people in our industry. Throughout my career I’ve had the privilege of being guided, inspired, and challenged by a host of talented and diverse people across the entire energy supply chain. ?

Every day at James Fisher, I am surrounded by colleagues and industry partners who are deeply committed to making a difference and driving positive change. I find it incredibly fulfilling to work in an industry where we have the opportunity to make a real difference.

Why do you want to be part of the RenewableUK Board?

The RUK Board does some fantastic work in accelerating the UK energy transition by helping to foster greater levels of collaboration throughout the supply chain and my own goals align perfectly with this.

I have a wealth of experience working on projects and schemes that bolster economic prospects and provide local jobs and training opportunities. The skills gap is a growing challenge and my unique insight into the drivers that support supply chain, create skills and deliver commercial opportunity, are all understandings I’d bring to the Board to benefit RUK, its members and our industry. I’d relish the opportunity to continue this journey in partnership with an organisation that is so closely aligned with my goals, ambitions and experience.

In your opinion, what are the most exciting opportunities for growth in the renewables sector and where do you see James Fisher Renewables having the greatest impact?

In terms of where we see the greatest opportunities, we’re setting our sights on both established renewable energies and new emerging technologies, like PtX, and the partnerships they can form to provide maximum impact.

James Fisher’s heritage is in maritime and oil and gas, but we’ve been supporting the energy transition for almost two decades now. We know the challenges the industry will face in its journey, and our engineering, innovation and talent are perfectly placed to support the next wave of renewable growth and development.
