Meet the Team - Lyndsey Soar
Could you tell us a bit about your background and how you came to work at Amicus?
I’ve had a varied career path working in different industries such as event management, recruitment, wholesale, tourism and yachting gaining experience and specialising in business development, administration, event and operations management. Working in the superyacht industry for 5 years was fantastic and although hard to explain on paper, it gave me amazing organisation, multi-tasking, resilience, team work and people skills as essentially you’re living and working onboard a luxury floating mansion/prison in different parts of the world, working really long hours at insanely high standards, serving high calibre clients and for months at a time with not a great deal of downtime and nowhere to switch off (as much as it was hard, it was also the best experience and highly recommend!). I always like to be proud of where and who I work for, and I was drawn to Amicus because of its reputation and the opportunity to work under leaders like Sir Peter Wall, the former head of the British Army, and Jennifer Carnegie.
What does a typical day look like for you in your role?
My day typically involves managing the client operational logistics, from coordinating schedules and meetings to handling client communications, organising logistics for running events and workshops and administrative support. I’m also responsible for all business development activity from strategy to managing the sales pipeline, identifying new business and partnership opportunities and marketing. I ensure that all operational aspects run smoothly so our consultants can focus on delivering our exceptional leadership development programs.
How do you support the leadership team, specifically Sir Peter and Jennifer Carnegie, in your daily work?
Supporting Sir Peter and Jennifer involves a range of responsibilities. I assist in project management tasks, ensuring that all initiatives are on track and that they have the resources they need to lead effectively. This allows them to focus on strategic decision-making and client engagements.

How do you ensure that the operational side of the consultancy aligns with its overall strategic goals?
Ensuring alignment with strategic goals involves close collaboration with the leadership team. I regularly review our processes and workflows to ensure they support our objectives. This might involve implementing new technologies or refining existing procedures. I also make it a point to stay informed about the consultancy’s goals and priorities, so our operations are always geared towards achieving them.
What’s been the most fun project working at Amicus so far?
I’m not involved in a lot of the on the day facilitation as I’m more behind the scenes, but every now and then I get to go along and, one of my favourite projects was an amazing mix of teambuilding and leadership development all in one over the course of two days. Two teams were sent out into the streets of Jersey with nothing but £40 cash, a couple of bus tokens, a random phone number to call and a couple of rules to adhere to and a big list of practical tasks to complete before the day was out. It was incredible to watch these talented teams plan and work together with so much innovation and humour to complete their objectives. Highly recommend this so I can join on the next one!
What do you find most rewarding about working at Amicus?
The most rewarding aspect is being part of a team that makes a significant impact on leadership development. Knowing that my efforts behind the scenes contribute to the success of our programs and the growth of our clients is incredibly fulfilling. Being instrumental to the growth of Amicus makes me incredibly driven and working alongside such esteemed leaders like Peter and Jennifer is both inspiring and enriching.
It's the 10 year anniversary of Amicus this year, that’s quite the milestone, is there more to come from Amicus?
Absolutely, I’m really enjoying helping drive the growth of Amicus, and we have big plans for the future. In this last 7 months we have put on many ticketed leadership development workshops, a leadership conference, geopolitics events on top of all our client work and we intend to expand on the workshops. Peter and Jennifer are currently writing our next one which hasn’t been announced yet but has something to do with High Performing Teams shhhhh! Watch this space.
