Meet the Team: George Lewin

Role: Junior AV Engineer

Tell us a bit about your work history: My working history started out in Retail as a weekend job for Wilko until they closed in September, I also worked in London for 9 months for an esports company which helped me massively with my own company as well as my college studies as I took esports at college.

What does your typical working day look like?

My typical working day looks like me either meeting the rest of the team at the HQ or meeting them at the site where we would then install what the client has asked to be installed. This can be TV’s, speakers, microphones etc. Once installed I’d simply head back to the HQ to drop anything off or go straight back home.

What’s your favourite thing about your job?

My favourite thing so far is that I can travel, I love the fact that I am not stuck in one place for an incredibly long time, having the freedom of being at various places throughout the week is something that is ideal.

What do you think are the three biggest skills you bring to work?

I think the 3 biggest skills that I bring to work is that I am a very communicable person, quite easy to talk to about most things. I also bring confidence to the workplace alongside having the ability to work both independently as well as within a team so I can help get the job done.

What are the key ingredients you think help create a happy workplace? The key ingredients to create a happy workplace is humour. Having humour and bringing it to the workplace is a recipe for a happy workplace. If you’re having a difficult day, there is someone there to cheer you up. I also think that comfortability is a vital ingredient to a happy workplace, if something goes wrong or you need to be able to talk about something, you should feel comfortable to talk to your colleagues – after all work is your home away from home.

Outside of work, where are you happiest?

I am happiest at home, with my family and my PC. My PC is my hub to my friends and the online world of gaming. I also love driving so being in my car is a happy place for me

Name one interesting fact people might not know about you: (this could be hobbies, personal achievement or other fun facts – doesn’t have to be sensible or work related) I own and run an esports company which has teams compete in northern Europe and we also have players that represent us in Northern America. We regularly attend LAN events in the UK, and it all started with me and my friends back in college, 2021.
