Meet the Team!

During the next few weeks, I will be interviewing some of Team Expeditors in Sweden. First up is our very own Air Export Manager Edward Jansson.

So, Eddie can you tell me a little about your journey within Expeditors?

Yes, I can do but it's divided in two! I started at Expeditors working as an Air Export agent in 2000 and worked my way up to a supervisor. It was a great experience learning everything in detail from the ground up which I believe helps me in my role today. After my first stint at Expeditors until 2008 I decided to spread my wings and try another workplace within the industry which helped me also to develop me and build perspective. In 2017 I came back to Expeditors in the role as Air Export Manager (My current role).

What made you decide to come back to Expeditors in 2017?

It kind of felt like coming home, the people within operations tend to stay at Expeditors for a long time and a lot of the team were still in place so it felt quite natural to come back. I also had the opportunity to come in a role where I knew I could continue developing but also where I knew I could contribute a lot.

I guess there are a lot of tasks involved in the day to day in Air Exports, can you share a little of what this involves?

I don't know if we have time to go through everything we do, it can get quite complex! Basically, we ensure that our customers (New or existing) can export to most places in the world, sometimes it's from A to B and sometimes it can be from A to C and then to Y! There are often different requirements for different customers, everything from security to specific commodity requirements to need of special monitoring and tracking, we usually can accommodate most requests.

So how does your day to day fit into this?

I try and keep as close as I can to my team to support and make sure that they have what they need to succeed. I am extremely lucky in having a team of 5 talented and dedicated individuals here in Stockholm, so micromanagement is not necessary! I work together with the account manager teams discussing customer satisfaction, requests etc. and feeding that info into the teams. We also have a huge network around the world within Expeditors, so I also put a lot of focus in liaising with teams in other markets, we are all responsible in making sure that our customers are happy!

Favorite film?

If you had asked me ten years ago it would definitely have been Top Gun, but now it's more like Love Actually! I think I have mellowed with age!

With over 15 years in now, what's the best part of working for Expeditors?

It probably sounds like a cliche but it's definitely the people. I have tried life outside of Expeditors and I have had the privilege of testing different environments, there is something special about how personally everyone takes their work here and how much everyone cares about the customers and each other.

To finish off can you spill the beans on the strangest delivery request you have received?

Haha, my lips are sealed!
