Meet the Team: Daniela Margowski

When did you start working at Titan and what was your role?

I started working for Titan on the 5th of April 1999 as a Senior Cabin Crew Member (SCCM). This proved to be the start of a very varied career! After joining as a SCCM, I progressed to Cabin Safety Trainer and then supported the Cabin Team as a Deputy Cabin Crew Manager for 4 years, before returning to my previous role - I missed flying too much! In 2019/20, I joined the team in Inflight Services as an Inflight Service Instructor/Guest Experience Manager.

What was the Company like when you joined?

A lot smaller than it is now! It was like a family, really. The roster was on a whiteboard with all 20 to 30 cabin crew plotted for a few weeks in advance. We also operated an ATR, known as the “shed”. The aircraft had no water boilers, only a hot water urn, and you had to walk through the forward hold to get to the flight deck. We also operated the BAe 146, which we lovingly called the Jumbolina! The arrival of the B737 was big news back then, and we had started an exciting contract in Sardinia. Followed by the B757 and B767 our first wide bodied aircraft.

What have been the biggest changes since then?

I would have to say the growth of the business, as we have grown from 30 to more than 120 cabin crew over the years. The fleet has also evolved greatly, bringing a flow of ever-changing aircraft our way. We went from a handful of familiar aircraft such as the BAe/B737/ B757 fleet, to adding a B767 and an Embraer (briefly). Then, in quick succession, the Airbus 318, A320, A321 and the NEO, all in various lay outs and possible configurations. Our customers have seen some major changes too. I remember doing some of Jet2’s cabin crew training in Leeds for our B737. Back then, its HQ was a small cabin at the back of the airport. We now visit their amazing training unit in Leeds and Jet2 now have a large presence at Stansted, including damp lease operations with our flight crew.

What have been the standout moments of your career at Titan?

There have been so many! But a few which spring to mind would be flying The Rolling Stones; being part of the crew for our our first Prime Ministerial flight; bringing home the Liverpool FC squad after their UEFA Cup Victory in 2001, and our first around the world trip on behalf of HL travel!

It has also been such a privilege to have been part of the many European contracts that Titan has had, operating out of countries such as Germany, Sweden and Italy. It’s been amazing spending time in cities like Hamburg, Rome or Munich for weeks and flying schedules from there, whilst experiencing life abroad and the many facets of another country at the same time.

What has kept you at Titan all these years?

No year is ever the same, and neither is a flight. ?I’m proud to be part of the Company’s ongoing success, building and maintaining an outstanding reputation in a highly competitive market. There is never a dull moment and there have been so many opportunities for building an exciting career within the company – I would not change any of it and it’s been a fantastic journey so far.
