MEET THE TEAM: Business Analysis
Our BIZ team is an international, distributed team of business analysts and requirement engineers with a passion for solving complex business problems.
They create, analyse and optimise business concepts for the insurance industry and transform them into technical solutions.
Tasks within the BIZ team
The tasks within the team vary from requirement engineering, process design, business analysis, system integration to product owner activities and customer support.
BIZ in a nutshell: Product- and Customer-centricity in one
At tech11 this means that they are part of the Platform Development Department, where they design and develop the future of our product, the "tech11 Insurance Platform". They also work in the Delivery Department and are responsible for rolling out and customizing the “tech11 Insurance Platform” to the need of our customers.
Module Orchestration
The “tech11 Insurance Platform” is a core insurance solution with the main business focused on the policy and claims module.
At tech11, our goal is to provide our customers with an end-2-end solution that is also highly integrative: different customers need different requirements.
For this reason, the “tech11 Insurance Platform” has been built in a modular way – from a technical point of view, it consists of many microservices.
Our modules include Policy, Accounting, Business Partner, Claims, Doc-Generator, Doc-Management, b2c-quote and many more.
All of these modules are orchestrated by means of a BPMN2 solution - in our reference we are using the Camunda BPM engine by Camunda .
Working on the Platform
Within our platform, the business team builds reference processes (business transactions) that connect our modules in a useful and correct way from a business perspective.

Reference: The “tech11 Insurance Platform” is a complex and highly configurable system. During the development of the platform, all models are configured and orchestrated as a reference configuration/setup. The reference is designed to be as close as possible to real use cases.
Working in Delivery
During delivery, the BIZ team works with the customer to analyse the GAPs between our reference and the customer's individual requirements. The GAPs can be closed by adapting the (BPMN) processes according to the needs. Of course, there are also new customer requirements that are designed and implemented as new platform features.
The tools we use
As a business analysis team, they create user stories and epics to specify new requirements for our platform. Everything is organised in an agile way using Kanban/Scrum and, for easier hybrid collaboration, Jira.
During the conception of a new requirement, they go through several process steps: e.g. Backlog Refinement Meeting, Multi-Level Reviews. From the very start of the design phase, the BIZ team is involved with other teams, including Backend, Frontend, DevOps and Testing, to create the best possible solution.
As Story Owners, they are also responsible for the final acceptance of the development (Definition of Done), for writing the documentation and for the release notes for the Story.
The results of the BIZ team
At our monthly platform update meeting, they present and explain each completed story to the entire tech11 team. Within a week, our customers receive the latest feature updates via our tech11 newsletter.
