What do you do at Brickhunter?

I’m Brickhunter’s Finance & Admin Manager, so I handle the day-to-day and management account needs of the business.

Talk us through your career…

Prior to working at Brickhunter, I spent a few years working in the hospitality industry, before working as a claim negotiator in the insurance industry.

I began my Brickhunter journey in the Supplier Relations team back in April 2019, then (post-COVID) I was given the fantastic opportunity of joining the finance team as a Finance & Admin Officer.

I'd actually completed my AAT Level 2 accounting qualification in 2017, and I'd been trying to get my foot in the proverbial ‘accounting’ door for some time. So being offered the chance to obtain my AAT Level 3 at Brickhunter was really encouraging in terms of my personal and professional development.

After years of gradually taking over various aspects of purchase and sales ledger, then finally taking over a large amount of the management reporting too, I was promoted to Finance & Admin Manager in January 2024.

What is your proudest Brickhunter moment so far?

That has to be my recent promotion to Finance & Admin Manager! However, a close second would be obtaining my AAT Level 3 and achieving AATQB status.

What does a typical week for you at Brickhunter look like?

Finance is very varied, so it all depends on what point in the month we're at! You might find me sorting our month-end journals, providing financial info for the rest of our management team or dealing with our normal day-to-day processes - corresponding with customers and suppliers, opening credit accounts, providing financial support to our Brick Advisors etc.

What do you bring to Team Brickhunter?

I like to think that I bring a very friendly and reliable presence to Brickhunter - and that my entirely self-proclaimed control-freak OCD tendencies are a positive (hopefully?!).

My favourite part of the job? Probably carrying out the monthly management accounts, as I love to see everything coming together

Which part of your job do you enjoy the most?

What is your life motto or mantra?

Outside of work, what are we most likely to find you doing?

I have very recently started my AAT Level 4 training, so you’ll probably find me studying! Other than that, I love walking Frankie my (very needy) miniature dachshund and I’m a big reader - I'm currently wincing at the thought of buying ANOTHER bookcase to enable my addiction!

What is your favourite meal and drink of choice?

I’m a pasta-lover, so anything Italian! If I’m out and about socially you’ll probably find me drinking a cocktail, but more often than not I’m a Pepsi drinker.

Tell us something about yourself that will surprise us…

After finishing high school, I went to college and studied for two years to become a veterinary nurse. I finished my course in around 2016, and after some personal discovery, realised that my teenage dream of becoming a vet, was not where my strengths lie in adulthood. Soon after, I began my journey into accountancy, and haven’t looked back since!
