Meet the team: Andy Milton – bridging the cybersecurity gap for SMEs?

Our Chief Revenue Officer Andy is bringing big business protection to small businesses everywhere?

After years working with large, multinationals specialising in cybersecurity and network security, Andy picked up on a worrying discrepancy between the large businesses he worked with and SMEs: effective cybersecurity was the reserve of big business.?

“For many years, I’ve worked within the cyber industry and solutions are focused on supporting the largest companies with the biggest budgets – but a huge number of small businesses are not helped; especially at a realistic price point.”? This has motivated Andy and his work with us, as we serve small businesses, and MSPs – who have the trust and confidence of valued customers to protect.??

Smaller companies, Andy explains, often have cybersecurity faultlines caused by poor configuration. Sometimes, the smallest things have an outsize impact – and this is true of cybersecurity. Doing things properly, from the ground up, is a big thing to Andy – who started his career as an engineer, working on enormous projects – literally: “My first job was actually as an engineer working on large, highly complex machinery – think planes, tanks and ships.”?

Andy may be technically minded, but that doesn’t detract from a big part of his role; talking directly with people. And producing workable, affordable and effective solutions that mean real support and solutions for problems.??

When it comes to inspiration, it’s also all about the human aspect: “When it comes to work and life, my dad is my true inspiration. He always worked hard, always had a great attitude to life – even when things were really challenging. His mantra: ‘You might not always be the smartest person in the room, but always approach everything with enthusiasm, and you might be surprised by the outcome.’”??

Andy is indeed an enthusiastic advocate for bringing robust cyber security solutions to the heart of small businesses – and he is a key player in our mission to make the digital world and small businesses a safer place for everyone. Andy’s outlook for Cyber Alarm? “In five years time – I see Cyber Alarm as a mainstream tech, deployed as commonly as anti-virus software.”?
