Meet the Team: Alex
Titan Airways
Titan Airways is a leading European charter airline providing the highest standards of safety, service, and reliability.
Tell me about your career and how you ended up joining Titan Airways?
I started my training in 2011 at Kingston University. This finished in 2013 and soon after I began working for British Airways as an Aircraft Mechanic. Whilst there, I also got my licence and did a Type course on a 747.??
I also worked at Ryanair at the start of my career, before applying for my job at Titan in April 2019 where I joined as a CAT A Technician. I was then able to do an Airbus Type Course and progressed to a B1 Technician in 2021. Covid threw a slight spanner in the works and delayed a few things, but I was able to progress to the Fleet Support Engineer position in October 2022 which was fantastic. This is where I am today!

Can you tell me a little bit more about your day-to-day role at Titan?
I’m based at Stansted, and during the winter I spend the majority of my time in the Hangar, with the exception of travelling to Ivalo for the Santa’s Lapland trips. In summer we do a lot of line maintenance at Stansted with Jet 2 Aeroplanes and this summer, the occasional ad hoc charter has come up where we have needed to provide engineering cover. There is also repping work that we occasionally do too. There’s always something different happening in the pipeline.?

Have there been any particular career highlights since starting your career at Titan?
The TCS and Four Seasons work we do takes us to some really fantastic places. I recently took on some last-minute engineering work which involved travelling to Bali – this was an amazing place to visit! These sorts of opportunities are certainly a great aspect of the job.
I have also done a bit of government work here and there, and I was part of the team which brought back an Aeroplane from Tucson in Arizona. For about 6 weeks over three occasions, we worked on this and there were quite a few challenges along the way, but when we finally got the Aircraft to Stansted it was a very rewarding feeling.

What makes Titan stand out as a company and different to anywhere you have worked before?
The variety is definitely the main thing that makes Titan stand out. I was working in the Hangar a few weeks ago and then the next thing I knew I was on a flight to Bali within 6 hours! No two days are the same and the variety within my role is what really appeals to me. I really like the size of the company too and everyone is really social within their individual departments which is great to see.
