Meet the Team: Alan Avery - Commercial Manager

We recently caught up with Alan Avery, Commercial Manager here at John Pye Auctions to find out a little bit more about him and his time at the company.

How would you describe what you do at John Pye to a Martian?

I use data and financial analysis to support implementation of new initiatives boosting profitability, our green credentials, and an all-round better working environment.

How long have you worked for John Pye Auctions?

I first started working for John Pye as an auction porter in July 2017 so have now been with John Pye for just over 5 years.

If you were not in the role you currently are, what would you be doing instead?

Probably a life coach, improving and bettering other people’s lives is a passion of mine.

Who inspires you most and why?

Marcus Rashford, he’s a highly successful athlete at the top of his game who also finds the time to give back to the community.

How would your best friend describe you?

Driven and dependable.

What’s your favourite film?

Shawshank redemption.

What was the last song you listened to on Spotify/Apple Music?

Eminem - Lose Yourself.

What is your biggest indulgence?

You can’t beat a beer garden on a sunny day.

What's one piece of advice you would give to your younger self?

Don’t run headfirst into every tackle in rugby as you pick-up a lot of concussions in the process.

What’s the best thing about working at John Pye Auctions?

Due to the ever-changing nature of our business no two days are the same. There’s always a new challenge around the corner pushing my problem-solving skills to the max.
