Meet the Team: Administration Manager Aya Ogata
Global Bridge
Global Bridge is an English language and communication training provider based in Tokyo. Now providing online training.
Booker T. Washington once said, “If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.” As Global Bridge administration manager, Aya Ogata works hard to ensure that the organization runs smoothly and that clients have everything they need to succeed. In this brief interview, you’ll learn about Aya’s professional background and why she’s passionate about her role at Global Bridge.
Can you briefly tell us about your background and your experience?
When I was a university student, I studied overseas twice. For a brief time, I studied at Oxford in the UK and in Denver, Colorado, in the US. After I graduated, I started working for a hospital. I took care of administration, including accounting, social insurance, and general affairs.
I was interested in English, but I didn’t use it for my work. One day, my friend introduced me to a company in the education industry. This company provided English training and learning materials. I decided to work there, and that’s how my current career path started. I’ve worked in this industry for more than 15 years.
What is your role at Global Bridge?
I’m an administration manager, and I’m in charge of accounting and general affairs. Also, I sometimes support learning material production by checking English to Japanese translations. That’s a small part of my role, though. Most of our material is in English.
What do you love about your work?
I am not a teacher or editor but, indirectly, I can support Japanese students who will be transferred overseas and help them improve the English communication skills that they need for their work. That will help them achieve career success in the future. Also, Global Bridge offers a lot of flexibility. If I want to improve something or share my ideas, I can speak directly with? Garry Pearson , the company president. If my ideas are acceptable, it’s easy to try something new, and I can make things work more efficiently. Lastly, I enjoy working with people from a variety of nationalities, which allows me to see things from new perspectives.
What is your favourite quote?
A famous Japanese actress, Kirin Kiki, once said, “Don’t be arrogant or proud. Don’t compare yourself to others. Enjoy life and live calmly.”
