Meet Sumbo Oluwatosin, Founder of Biotech Company S-RXN

Originally from Lagos, Nigeria and currently based in Cape Town, South Africa, Sumbo O. holds Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Chemical Engineering with a specialization in Bioprocess Engineering research from both Covenant University, and the University of Cape Town.?

Her current efforts with S-RXN are reflective of her views on biotech being the future of consumer products. Sumbo is on a mission to improve human health and well-being through the convergence of modern science with environmentally conscious? consumer products.

Describe your company, and why is it sorely needed in the world?

For as long as memory serves, the beauty and cosmetics industry has been perceived as a surface-alone industry, with little focus on its impact or the potential benefits it could offer.

The world is currently veering towards more sustainable choices both in our individual lives and as a whole.?

S-RXN is a biotech powered beauty company that seeks to improve overall wellbeing by integrating biotech with cosmetics science to develop high performance innovative beauty products that are beneficial to you and the environment. S-RXN is powered by Labiome Tech labs. Through both companies, we are redefining everyday products into more meaningful and environmentally conscious ones.?

Where did the business concept originate and how has the journey been so far??

During my undergraduate study, I developed a hobby for creative makeup artistry. I became quite obsessed with makeup legends like Francois NARS, Path McGrath and Bobbi Brown. All these, along with my ingrained passion to develop meaningful products birthed S-RXN. Imagine a powder that not only acts as a skin finish but also rejuvenates the skin health. I believe this is the future of beauty, and I’m happy to drive this dream and bring that future to you.

It’s been a long journey, but I am grateful for all the experiences garnered and I'm happy I can now apply my expertise and passion in developing these products.

Can you give us a real-world/practical example of how your product works?

Imagine stepping down your multi-step skin routine into a single-step, using only one product! With S-RXN, you will have products that cross-function across both skin and healthcare. Imagine being able to do all of these while saving the planet from environmental pollution.?

Expanding into new territories with an increased demand for our products.

What is your take on doing business in South Africa??

South Africa is such a culturally diverse country with so much heritage.? This has been a big influence on what we’re building at S-RXN.
