Spheres of Influence would not be possible without our writing and editorial teams. Today we'd like to introduce another one of our incredible staff writers, Rose Solovitch !
I was motivated to join Spheres of Influence, because I admired that they were focussing on global politics and groups of people who are often overlooked in mainstream media. I was also correct in my belief that our politics would align and that it would be the right place for me to write pieces about social justice issues that are very important to me. Additionally, I am thankful as well, that SOI has kept their promise of being an inclusive and accommodating workspace, which has been a very important factor for my ability to produce quality content.
Through working at Spheres of Influence I have gained a network of colleagues whom I respect. I have also had the opportunity to hone some of my skills as a journalist and writer. I am also thankful that working at Spheres has given me an expanded platform that allows me to broadcast my articles on a larger scale.

My favourite article that I have written so far is "Unveiling Mistreatment and Structural Issues within the Canadian Healthcare System" which is the third installment in my four part series exploring some of the problems in the Canadian medical system partly through the lens of my personal experiences. This particular article allowed me to go more in depth about the mistreatment and abuse that I and many other people have faced while seeking treatment as compared to the rest of the articles in the series. I also appreciated how it gave me the opportunity to talk about how this issue intersects across race and class, while also acknowledging my privilege.
I would like to use my platform at Spheres of Influence to help raise awareness around social justice issues such as disabilities and medical mistreatment, gender equality, domestic violence, and LGBTQ matters. I hope to make an impact on my readers by combining my personal, lived experience with research in order to write articles that are both engaging and insightful to the reader.
Something people might not know about me is that I am a singer. I have a strong range and sing as a soprano whenever I am in a choir (sopranos hit the higher notes). I’m not quite Mariah Carey, but I can sing a High C which is a musical accomplishment that I am proud of. I enjoy doing open mic nights in Toronto and I would love to get back into choir or do more musical theatre someday.
